Comforter every time. The bed spread is too thin and sometimes heavy. The quilt is too old and heavy; somewhat thick. Now, the comforter is just what it's called; comfort, giving comfort. They're light, airy, huge, thick (and airy) new and soft and pick the material: silk, cotton, whatever. And don't forget the capability to be used from both sides. They're reversible!
In the summer, it's all about a sheet and have a blanket handy just in case there's a chill. The warmth of a comforter is the best feature. Light, huge, warm instantly. Its temperature changes to meet your body temperature almost instantaneously.

Just a bedspread is so plain. You can get old fashion quilts and they last and last. They're kind of heavy though. I'd opt with the comforter , because they are sooo light, but keep you nice and comfy. Sorry grandma I gave up the quilt after I left your house. I'm sorry. I still love them. They are so designer in all those patterns. So difficult to make. They are high dollar oh my!

See if this helps: A comforter is a thick, quilted, fluffy blanket intended to hold the user heat. It's regularly stuffed with artificial fiber filler. A cover is a type of bedding- a tender flat bag mainly filled with down or feathers, or a blend of each and used on a bed as a blanket. Whilst a Comforter is used handiest as a blanket to hold one heat, a cover can be used as bedding. It is a single piece that serves as both bedding and blanket.
