Yes. I've been home with my son since his birth, over four years ago. Now he's in preschool a couple of mornings a week. We may add a few more mornings soon. We go to library story time at our public library. It's 30 minutes twice a month. One day has stories with a craft, the other has stories with a songs and instruments (for the kids too). Best is it's free! When my son was younger, I took him to a playgroup. That was a great way to get out of the house and talk to other adults while my son got to play with the kids. (FYI-Just make sure the adult talk doesn't get too heavy or veer to the inappropriate. The kids understand more than we give them credit for sometimes.) Another thing we do is play dates with friends we've met from the library or the park. We've gone to a local arcade (with a children's' tunneling gym), the park, the zoo, and a small municipal amusement park. We've also gone to local festivals and farmers' markets. We plan to go to a couple local children's' museums soon. I've heard of playgroups making requests with the local fire department about visiting the fire house.

Here's a link for International MOMS Club:

I've heard good things about International MOMS Club, though I found my playgroup through an ad in the good old-fashioned newspaper.

Best wishes to you and your son.

I am a stay at home mom and usually I don't mind it but there are days when I would gladly trade my husband jobs. I have four children ages 5 years, 2 years and twin 1 year olds. Its a lot of work trying to make sure they all have clean diapers and teeth and clothes but once they eat breakfast we go outside to play. My twins love the water and my older two are really into sand and swimming so I take them to the beach ever chance I get. We all love going to the zoo and having bbq's. My oldest is excited about getting to start kindergarten and I'm dreading losing my best helper. I am looking forward to all of my kids being in school so I can go back to work, I love my kids but I miss my work.

I am. My kids are teens now, but when they were young, they never went to a day care center. I paid the occasional babysitter so I could date my husband (that's important), or do errands if they were urgent. I never wanted my kids to go to daycare because I thought I should be around to see all their developmental steps, like walking, first words, etc. We read, watched selected TV together, took walks, did colouring, etc. My kids could tie their shoes and write their names before kindergarten. I think being a mom with your young kids AT HOME is really important to their development.

I was, not anymore. I waited until my youngest one was old enough to tell me everything. That way I was more at ease leaving them with a babysitter.
