Hehehehehe....
What a funny things. Hey sir if it is too hot inside your room, u may turn the fan or the AC on. DO NOT open your window. The water from the rain my condut the electricity from the thunder does. It wil bring a disaster to your family. Believe me. You`d better closed all of the windo and door. DO NOT plug anything. Turn off every electric tools. And joined with your family.
Do not try to get out oh your house.
That is a suicide.
My GOD helps you.

Depends on which way your window faces and which direction the storm is coming from. To my knowledge, we don't have to worry about thunder coming through, its the lightning that causes fires.
Since you can't sleep, go outside (or onto a covered porch for example) and watch the storm. My best friend does this every time.

Double Helix is right. Do not keep windows open! Thunder runs in zigzag way and can enter in your room through your open window and cause fire , also you could be electrified!

If wind starts to blow, they may push ennough air through your window, and if there are no exits for the hot air inside, then another window will break.
