I think the best age is 17, because you have a clear understanding in what you want in a mate or friend. Any age before that is jumping the gun, and doesn't have enough experience or knowledge to conclude what they should have. I wanted to start looking for a woman, when I was in the 12th grade, but during my whole years in school, I wasn't sure what the hell I wanted in life, and especially with a woman. So... I stalled and I ended up regretting up until now. My friends tell me I can still work on it, by talking with girls on the street or online; but I'm so used to not talking to women, that I usually let it go. So, your last year of high school should be the greatest and funnest year of all time during school days period!

I started "dating" when I was 14 (when I started high school). I went to a Freshman mixer and met a nice boy there. We dated for about a year- but our parents had to drive us everywhere! We were chaperoned. After we broke up I dated off and on from age 16 on.

It's good to start out as friends and go out as a group. In this way, young people can meet and talk with their own age group. Is this making sense?

Anyway, a chaperoned date is ok early (14 and 15).
Dating without chaperones - I agree with you- age 16.

I began formally dating at 18. My parents wouldn't let me date any younger. At that age I already knew what I wanted and what I was looking for. I ended up marrying my first boyfriend! Turned out great for me huh?

Anyway, I think 16 or 17 is a good age too. At this age they're no longer too immature to get themselves into too much trouble and if they wanted to have a sexual relationship their parents could talk to them about birth control.

If our 11-15 year olds could only wait just a few years longer I think they'd be better able to handle their relationships and figure out that having a child at such a young age is not a good idea!

It depends on the person but I think 11th grade is about right for one-on-one dating. Before that hanging out with a bunch of other people is good.

i think sixteen is a good age...but it does depend on the person. group dates are good...but by the time a person is in the 11th grade, they should be dating...with restrictions...this would be for girls or boys....society does seem to pressure young people into growing up...and the problem is that young people can't handle it. let a child be a child...

I don't think anyone should date until you're 25. Maybe that's a little extreme. How about noone dates unless you have your own apartment or house? Seriously, there really isn't a good answer, but there does seem to be way too much pressure to have a boyfriend/girlfriend once you start going to school. Once you get your driver's license is a good bench mark.

At age 16 or whenever after that you feel ready. I didn't start dating til my freshman year of college.

I agree with you on that I think 16 is the YOUNGEST I would let both son or daughter date....one on one...type stuff....I mean they have the whole "Boyfriend" for a day type stuff, but we all did that...but to go out on dates, they need to be able to drive themselves and have a licence...and that is my thinking...

I think you should be at an age where you can both take each other out and not rely on your parent to chauffer you, so I'd say at least 16.
