He's good at padding his stats in the regular season, but can't get a hit in a meaningful game if he were going up against a little league pitcher.

A-rod is not the most overrated player ever. He's just having one bad year this year because more emphasis is being placed on what he did in the postseason last year. But give the kid a break. Today, he just hit his 450th HR, the youngest player to reach that mark, and got his 2000th hit. He has a couple gold gloves, and a couple MVP awards, including one last year as a YANKEE. Now, I'm a true yankee fan ever since I was born, and I cringe when he makes the errors, 18th error of the season today, but still he has to get his credit. The man can play ball when he isn't being affected mentally. He is having trouble because of the pressure of NY, but he still should get all the credit he deserves because he can do everything in baseball. Just wait for that one moment, and he'll break free this year. If you ask me the most overrated player could be Brad Lidge or Jason Varitek or even Carlton Fiske, but it's not Arod.

E (error) Rod has been a disappointment to the N.Y. Yankees as of late...A good arm that's missing the target - and the need for a roadmap to find the ball in his glove can be an excellent recipe for an irate fan.

With E-Rod's contract, George Steinbrenner would have to throw in some goodies to get rid of him.

E-Rod is definitely under-whelming. I hope he shapes up - A S A P.

I would have to agree with you 100% on that, when he was a Mariner and Ranger they weren't yearly contenders like the Yankees are and I think we all know how Yankees fans are about their baseball. Although at the same time he has been getting a bum wrap too, both the Mariners and Rangers haven't done squat since he left and it seems to me they were a little better when he was on their team. If you ask me he just can't handle the pressure of the big city market as well as the smaller ones.

Are you kidding me? At age 30, he has:

450 homers
2000 RBI
2 MVP awards
2 Gold Gloves

In the playoffs, where he supposedly does nothing, he has a .393 OBP and .927 OPS. His career batting average and OBP are both higher with runners on than with the bases empty.

Anyone who really believes this guy is overrated have no understanding of baseball, and are judging a guy on a set of highlights or a couple of bad games. Any sensible fan would love to have ARod on their team.

A-Rod is not the most overrated player ever, actually not even the most overrated on his team (Jeter in my opinion is WAY too overrated defensively).

Most overrated ever? I'd have to go with Nolan Ryan. I love the guy but he has the career lead in walks by almost 1000 over #2, and lost 292 games.

I have the solution - the Yankees should trade Alex Rodriguez to the Royals for Angel Berroa - The Yankee fans get a really crappy player to boo all they want - Rodriguez can play Short where he belongs, hit .320 with 50HR and 140RBI's and will never have to worry about playing in a "meaningful" game in KC - heckofadeal!

Please back that up with facts. A-Rod has a .393 OBP in the postseason and a .534 slugging percentage. Also, the last time I checked, all regular season games count. Otherwise, they wouldn't keep records.

BTW, exquisite, please tell me why Maddux and Johnson suck in the postseason. Maddux has a career 3.23 ERA in the postseason. Johnson's is 3.28. Clemens is at 3.71, but everyone considers him a big game pitcher, whatever that means. Pettite is 4.08.

He can hit meaningful hits and he has, he's just going through a rough patch and no one is giving him a break. I'm not going to defend his performance of late, but he's still a pretty damn good player.

Ken griffey Jr....
Mark McGuire...
Barry Bonds..
Sammy Sosa
Greg Maddox
Rolley Fingers...
Orel Hershizer(Spell checker)
Randy Johnson

All thoes players right there are hall of fame players, in all of the playoff's they suck a$$!! does that make them any less hall of fame worthy?
If you answered no, it doesn't....someone like A-rod who has great reg, seasons and awful post seasons...its not a matter of being overated..Its a matter of being able to preform in the clutch..Much like that list of current and soon to be hall of fame players..

well he just went from being one of the best ss in the league to the worst 3rd base men. he is under alot of pressure and u can tell its getting to him he is losing his mechanics. droping his elbow when he throws and praying that the ball goes the right way. i think he need to either leave new york or change his attitude
