I wonder, how can we answer questions with really little knowledge except for our own experience and maybe education without taking full responsibility for the outcome of our answers. There are people out there who want to lose 60 pounds and are 125 pounds, others who are contemplating a kind of rape or people who are just very lost. How do we answer to them when they choose an answer that may cost them their future or their lives?

We offer an opinion, and for real serious questions, ALWAYS refer to a professional.

It is the responsibility of the poster to realize that anything could be said in answers. Some are children and young adults without life experinces and no one to help them and they may take an answer as serious and true. It is our responsibility to answer these serious problem questions as truely as possible. And to only the questions that we have knowledge of or experience with. Some are pranks but I answer them as if they are true, just in case. You have to do what is in your heart. If you see a problem that you don't know how to help with, you can still encourage them or tell them that people do care and will help them if they ask for help. God bess you for being so concerned and acting on doing something to gain knowledge. I worry so much about these young people and children.

Some people just want to know about other people's experiences. It doesn't mean they are going to take anyone's advice. Other people like to feel validated too so seek the opinion of others. Sometimes it is a simple answer they seek like a good idea for supper. It's obviously fun to use Yahoo Answers or it wouldn't be so popular. For the most part I think people try to give good answers and for those that don't it is usually obvious.

I agree completely. And many questions shouldn't even be asked on this forum, but should be directed at a professional where you know who you're talking to. And I often can't tell what is a serious question and what's just made up to get attention or a reaction. Sometimes I've replied with a light hearted spoof only to find out it was a serious question. I'm equally confused. Almost all questions, no ALL questions, lack enough information to do it justice with a response.

I feel that this site and participation in it is a lot 'lighter' exercise than you are indicating you feel . . . therefore, no guilt - or sense of others doom occurs to me. . . sorry you feel the way you do - hope that doesn't mean you will be leaving the site?
Take 2 aspirin, then check back in the morning - you may feel differently then. . .

We try the hardest we can, and hope that we can help people who need guidance.

BTW, we have the same name.
