Better yet, why not just let the rich powerful old men duke it out in an arena themselves.

I'm not sure of your age....I'm figuring that you are just a teenager with the text of your question written the way you wrote it....being an advocate for the military.....I believe that you should study your history a bit more; when you do, you will find that we as Americans have always been there to protect the weak, those seeking a more democratic way of life, and have always had those that are willing to sacrifice their lives for others in need.

Keep in mind those "powerful old men" were elected to office by "WE the people" and that these men, many of them at least, have already served their time in Hell .... World War II, Korea, Vietnam, Persian Gulf(Desert Storm) and many other conflicts, so young people like you can sit back and complain, criticize, and in general exercise your 1st Amendment rights guaranteed by the US Constitution.

So before you question the wisdom of these "powerful old men", why don't you do something to deserve the right to question them......

Personally, I could really get behind a war, if the rich old men that are condemning our soldiers to death, were up on the frontlines leading. THAT would be much better then bringing back Gladiators.

Pay 'em like star athletes??? Nope, won't work. You're forgetting about those older gentlemen's lust for world domination.

BTW, to some of the answerers...

I've yet to meet a soldier who could declare war. They are not what this question is about. There is absolutely nothing disrepectful towards the troops or unappreciated about what they are doing for the nation when questioning the ethics and wisdom of the politicians that make the decision to put soldiers in harm's way.

Yes, gladiators if they were robots. Why not input all the political/boundary disputes into a super computer and let it give us a judgment as to who is right and who should back down?

People CHOOSE to join the military knowing they could be sent to war at any time. If it wasn't for them.......you wouldn't have your right to sit at your computer and complain about everything.
