hey dumb@ss, my wife is fat and she eats less than I do, and I weigh only 130lbs. Many times there are genetic factors that contribute to gaining weight, and many obese people have a thyroid problem. And yes, some people just cram themselves with food all day, but they usually have psychological problems and that is their way of dealing with it. The SAME kind of problems that make it hard for people like me to quit smoking.
Try a little compassion, you dork.

Preach, bro. I'm with you all the way! They may run insurance cost just as much as smokers or even more.
The one's I see are ALWAYS eating and don't even bother walking if they can get into a motorized walker.
Americans are encouraged to scarf down the largest size fast food and call them snacks. Even pets are now overweight.
I went into a fast food joint recently (I had not been for over 3 years) and I was surprised at the naming convention and the sizes for soft drinks. The old super size is now small, the jumbo is medium and large is new - its probably twice as much as the new medium. The old large is now called a special because it is the smallest size.
The patrons were annoyed because It took the cashier a while to explain it all to me because I got so confused.
I wanted a small drink, but had to buy the special which is the old large!!
Go figure!

Well, I feel we've taken the wrong approach in America to bash anyone. I think we should embrace tolerance... realize that we are all one large family. Yes, we may not agree with the way others choose to live; however, we should respect their choices. You make a valid point that the choices of others impact our lives... taxes, for example. Insurance for another. Yet, wouldn't it be wonderful if we all pulled together as one large family and helped one another out. Wouldn't it be wonderful, for example, if insurance was no longer a concern for anyone. If a person needed an operation, the entire large family of America would have paid any tax to cover that. No more medical bills... no more auto insurance... we'd take care of one another. We're not ready for that as a society, mainly because I feel we think too much about ourselves and our families rather than the society at large. It's a WE vs. THEM mentality... and until people's hearts change to think only of US, we'll keep bashing away.

That's true. But the thing is smoking is a choice. Some people don't choose to be over weight. Some over weight people are truly that way because of genes and disorders. How I know? Because people don't commit suicide for being a smoker. They committ suicide for being overweight and being made fun off because of that. I say that all both of them are bad. But I just think that people use people's size to discriminate and talk about over weight people. It's what's more accepted and smoking is more accepted than being over weight. You don't get starred at because you are smoking. But like I said both are equally bad for health reason. So, why don't you start a excerise program and help them out. Do something about it.

I'm of the opinion that we can "bash" everyone. The fact of the matter is fatties are louder than smokers (probably because of the emphesema and all). I should know...I used to be one....of each.
PS I laughed my butt off at Leif saying fattyism is self inflicted but completely neglecting the fact that smoking is too! haha
PPS Stephen, quite frankly, when a fatty sits by me....I break out in hives...then I sit next to a smoker to get that "fatty smell" offa me.
PPS Sorry JRandy for having so much fun

fat people are more sensitive to criticism and will probably get depressed, while smokers usually don't care if their smoke is bothering you.they have this look on their face as if it's not their problem, move someplace else if you don't like second hand smoke.i'd rather not be near either one.from my encounters, they're usually rude and have no common courtesy.they don't irk me as much as bad drivers though^__^
obesity leads to heart problems/diabetes/etc while addicted smokers eventually get lung cancer/etc such as that creepy lady who smokes a cigarette from the hole in her throat.i think disabilitiy checks should only be reserved for people who are born disabled, naturally developed health conditions or became disabled due to an accident, not for people who intentionally caused their disability.i think both are full of excuses & have no personal responsibility.nobody is forcing anyone into eating out at fast food restaurants or purchasing a pack of cigs at the store.if that obese guy on the subway diet can become skinny,so can them & take peter jennings for example if you've noticed how his voice gets all ashy and died pre-maturely.we have no control over terminal illness that spontaneously appears but the things that we do have control over, such as the choice of food for a healthier lifestyle is easily rejected.people who don't cherish life or are in denial willingly self-abuse their own bodies.i don't favor these kinds of people and that includes alcoholics/druggies.i don't think tax money should be used to put advertisements to prevent/warn people of the health risks anymore.it is not okay but fast food chains & the diet industry with all these programs/machines to lose weight & the tobacco industry are making tons of profit.$$ is apparently not terrible even if it's at the expense of another human's life.

Because in America the theory is some can't help being that way. Seems we have have a rash of glandular issues in this country.
For the most part...we don't eat the right foods and too much of it, we don't exercise and we avoid the jobs where you break a little sweat.
Not many other countries have bulimia and anorexia either. Starving yourself when food is abundant.
We have the diseases of a nation that has it too easy.

Well, businesses in the USA are banning smokers from working in their companies for insurance reasons, so I'm sure it will only be a matter of time before they try to control people and their diets as well.

I am a thin non-smoker. I think smoking is disgusting. I think being fat is disgusting. I can't stand going to bars and restaurants where people are smoking and it makes me lose my appetite when I'm trying to enjoy my dinner and there's a fatty across from me picking at hers like she doesn't eat. What's so hard about putting down the hamburger and running around the block??? I'm with you 100%. I want to live a long life. When was the last time you saw a four hundred pound eighty-year-old. You haven't. They don't exist!!!
