Talk about embarrassment. Somehow this payment got sent to an old e-mail address of mine that I deleted a few days ago. Just to double check, I re-added it to my account, and sure enough, there was the payment. Doh! Thanks to all, though.

If you have money in your PP account, it will tell you when you sign into it.

NEVER click on a link that "leads" to PP... always type in httpS://paypal.com. The "S" means it is a secure site.

Most of these emails are phishing for your info. We got scammed about a year or so ago from one, and had to change his bank card.

As far as claiming money? Sometimes you do, but always check by signing in securely. To protect yourself from scams, and any kind of virus (sometime hidden on a page that you are prompted to follow with a link).

This is most defonitly a scam and you should forward the e-mail to;spoofl@paypal.com...
This is copied from paypal's help section:
What should I do if I receive a fake email?

If you think you have received a fraudulent email, forward the entire email to spoof@paypal.com and then delete it from your email account.

If you already replied to a fake email with your personal information, please Contact Us right away. You may also want to contact your financial institution to alert them of possible suspicious activity.

This is most likely a scam, never click on a link from an email to goto a financial site, always type it in yourself using www.domain.com

Do not open their link...but instead open up paypal.com on another page. Use the email address they sent the email to and see what paypal says.
You can send the letter sent to you to "spoof@paypal.com" and they will notify you if they sent it or not!!
