Hi--
If you have plants and medium on the bottom they will be ok-yes some may not make it--but some will-
It will be hard to see them even maybe until next year--they are brown and usually very transparent--They look like tiny pins at first!
Make sure you feed your fish routinely so they will not be tempted to look for small fry--
They hide among anything in your pond and do quite well with no interference-
Good Luck ==Hope this helps=

It sounds like you have a koi pond. If you have fry that are hatching try if you may to keep them seperated from all the other fish. If you cant the plants should be enough refuge for the fry to hide in.

if your fish is laying on the bottom of the pond there is something wrong with it, when goldfish and koi spawn, they swim madly about the pond rubbing against all the plants and the sides of the pond, they don't slow down till they are through
the female goldfish will lay thousands of eggs, be glad that some are eaten because you couldn't possibly raise that many babies
just keep plenty of plants in the pond

Koi lay eggs so they will be eaten by adults in such a small pond.
The eggs won't get fertilised if you isolate the female and it's difficult if you don't have another established pond so I guess your best bet is to let nature takes its course.
Baby koi are difficult to rear in the conditions you describe especially if you have a filter system which will filter all the eggs and destroy them.

if you move the fry they will die, if you have plants they fry will hide in them but some will get eaten. go to a pet store and tell them your fish is having fry, they should have a container with some holes in which the fry would be able to swim in and stay and the bigger fish won't get them.

Remove the frys to a fish tank until they are bigger and then introduce them back into the pond.

As soon as you can - isolate the newbies. More than likely your new guys will have a decent chance if you've got a lot of hiding places - like the plant you've mentioned. Good luck.

you can put your frys in a container that you can buy at petco or petsmart when you put the frys in there there's hole an the holes let the frys go to the mom , but when the mom trys to eat them they can go to the other side and the mom can't eat them.

you can put some type of marbles on the bottom for them to hide in the cracks or you can catch them with a tight-weave net and tranfer them into a separate tank.
