USA is taking advantage of FIFA's regulations for Qualification into the World Cup. USA plays against countries like Trinidad-Tobago, Guatamela, Jamaica, Coasta Rica, Panama for the world cup qualifying rounds!!! Any country can play against these islands and can qualify. In fact, the most disgraceful thing is all of these countries except for Guatemala played in this world cup whereas none of these countries/islands deserve to be in the WC which is the place only for the best teams in the world. In Europe and South America, there are countries that are far better than USA and can beat USA by 10-nil but unfortunately, they don’t get the chance to qualify. The same thing goes for Africa as well. Nigeria and Cameroon could not qualify for 2006 because they didn’t come in the top four which again shows the depth of strong footballing nations there are in Africa. And most of these African nations are 100 times better than US Team. If USA was to put in World Cup qualifying games against European countries or African countries, they never would have made it to the world cup. I think FIFA needs to look into this issue so that only the better footballing nations qualify into the World Cup. If FIFA does not look into this matter, it will be gross injustice to European, African, South American and Asian countries that have produced great players over the years and have shown real passion for football. It will be shame for World Cup itself if USA keeps getting “free pass” to the biggest and most spectacular tournament on earth. And I prefer replies from those who are not from USA.. And if you are an American, use the term “football,” not “soccer.”

again, do not use the term "Soccer." It is FOOTBALL. And I would like Americnas to stay out of this conversation. My question is for those who come from footballing nations.

Hey Rumman'
Sure some better teams did not advance through qualifying rounds. But there are only 32 places for the WC. Whether it is agreed with or not, it is the World Cup and as such any team that qualifies has the right to participate. Yes it is true that some teams have harder groups to which they must overcome harder competition, but each group has a percentage of places from which to qualify and the weaker nations are not allocated as high a ranking or points for the matches in those weaker groups. If however we do want the sport to grow to even greater levels of participation, we cannot exclude smaller less experienced footballing nations from participation. The system of selection may not be perfect but to make changes would be boardering on predjudice and discrimination. The only other way it could be done is to do away with groups and place countries into randomly drawn or selected groups, which would see countries travelling all over the place to qualify and would of course interfere with other National obligations along with numerous problems trying to have players released from club contracts to be able to play, and I doubt that is a suitable alternative to the problems you mention. Doubling the amount of teams to 64 and extending the competition to a 2month period would be exhausting for the players and as much as we all hate the world cup being over so quickly FIFA would have great problems keeping up the crowds and the momentum for this long a period...but hey if you come up with a better solution to the present...let me know. It's a hard question to solve.

Bugger off you idiot. Don't you know the history of "Football"? Obviously not if you did you would realize that soccer is a term the English invented to differentiate the different games such as Association football AKA soccer and rugby. Look it up. By the way what about Mexico? Didn't T&T make the Cup? Did'nt Costa Rica make the Cup? You like to forget about them don't you. Let me guess you are from some poor little country that has no way of making to the Cup so you like to make fun of those who can. Show me one African side that has any real game. They don't exist. All the big ones could not even make the last cup. By the way this comes from an American who has played in Brasil and in the German Bundasliga. So SHUT UP. Oh you think the Asian countries have some type of soccer history? What a joke. They all picked the game up well after the Americans. Don't forget the 1-0 victory over England by those same Americans in 1950. Man you really need to learn more about the beautiful game before you try and match wits with a "stupid" American. Try learning how to read so you can look into the past and discover the true roots of soccer.

First of all, I am an American. Second of all, I agree with you on many levels. However, it seems to me that you focus solely on the United States because you hate it (dont worry, I do to). Oh, and you left out Mexico, which is not a great team, but a good team, and infact we finished ahead of them in qualifying. But that isnt the point. The point is that instead of having the 32 best teams in the world, the world cup has 32 teams that beat out other teams near where they are, from the same "region." For instance, Gutamala and Panama didnt qualify in the final round of CONCACAF, while Senegal, Congo, Cameroon, Nigeria, and Morocco, didnt qualify from Africa. Uzbekistan and Kuwait didn't qualify from Asia, while Uruguay and Colombia didn't qualify from South America. I think FIFA should keeping the process the same in each regional zone (as in, dont change the way we would qualify now), but those have taken place, heres how it would work: The group winner in CONCACAF (1 group), the group winners in Asia (2 groups), the top 4 from South America (1 group), the group winners in Europe (8 groups), and the Group winners in Africa (5 groups) have qualified. That is 20 teams, slightly over half the spots. For the remaining 12: 2-4 places in CONCACAF play 5-7 places in South America (that makes 23 teams that have qualified); all second places from each group in Africa (five groups) play five of the second places from European groups (8 groups)(that makes 28 that have qualified). Two of the other second places from European groups (8 groups) would play the two second places from Asian gorups (2 groups) (that makes 30 that have qualified). The final European second place group (8 groups) plays the winner of Oceania (that makes 31 that have qualified). Now, based on the old rules, this means that were finished because the host nation qualifies automatically. However, with that not happening anymore, there could be any number of possibilites of playoffs for the final spot, which I am not going to list. Anyway, I think this would effictively solve the problem of not having the best 32 teams in the cup.

Thats why it is the one and only World Cup. It is the only tournament in the world, that involves the whole world. I realise that there are better countries than America at football, but if the same super powers of football were in every World Cup the smaller countries would lose interest in the tournament because they know that they would never make the World Cup. Besides that, I am glad that America was in the World Cup because Americans need to be educated about the beautiful game. Lets face it, what other country calls it soccer, And as you can see by matt m's comment, they really do need an education, or a good sh** kicking.

After reading your childish temper tantrum I got your point after the first sentence. Pretty redundant, don't you think? You said other countries in Europe and South America could beat US like 10 nil. Calm down Sparky, didn't we just tie the champs of the WC , Italy. I would think that such an American hater like yourself you would like to see the US every 4 years, no matter how we get there, so you can see us get eliminated. But I guess if we didn't show up then you probably wouldn't have any thing to cry about. Your tantrum reminds me of a typical soccer player that when he gets touched he falls down and screams like a little *****. Somebody grab a stretcher, we need to carry this little girl to the sidelines so she can come back in the game in 2 minutes. You won't even say where your from, typical coward. Most soccer fans I've seen are very passionate about their sport and where they are from but not a word in all that crap you wrote. It must be a conspiracy, USA cheats its way into WC! Shocking!! Shut the **** up and get a life!

if they qualify, they qualify....who cares really cause we all know they will never win. i live in the united states and i know maybe one person who actually enjoys watching football...and im not counting myself cause im originally from argentina.

either way theres no use getting all worked up about it cause fifa arent going to change their rules to prevent the united states from playing in the world cup. its true that some better teams dont get to play because of the united states but i'll remain a happy camper as long as they keep sucking!

I say simple Two teams from the group go out.
First qualify and second play off one of the African Nations.

Americans do not give damn and respect for the game like you see at the top so they really do not deserve to go to the World Cup.

Well the truth is Americans do not care about any other type of Football but their own, you know the sport where Monkeys and Gorrillas are in Helmets and Shoulder Pads and run around with a ball and then thousands of druken fat white people cheering.....American Football should change their name to ApeBall so it doesn't get confused with the Real Football and have those monkeys play with a banana instead.

Jamaica wasn't in this WC and FIFA allows the US to pull this kinda crap cause FIFA is EVIL AND CORRUPT! the reason we(Cameroun) wasn't in this WC is cause we had to beat Egypt to get in. but before the game we did something extremely stupid. WE OFFERED A SACRIFICE OF BULLS TO THE ANCESTORS!!! really stupid move Cameroun. i have no idea what happened, cause before we played Holland we prayed and beat them.what happened? i don't know. you're right though. i wish we could play the US. man i would be all in my friends faces talking about how we beat them.
