A prep is kinda like a snob, they usally dress well have $ and go to a private school. It has nothing to do with the other girl or why your folks do not want you to call him.

a preppy person is usually someone who has been schooled at a private school ( $$$$) A private school is also called a prepatory or prep school which is sometimes referred to as preparing an individual for adulthood. Yes they do tend to be snoby. Been there done that. So a prep person is someone who is considered to think very highly of themselves.
