New Panel Will Continue to Investigate Bonds
No Indictment Today as Grand Jury's Term Expires

SAN FRANCISCO (July 20) - With Barry Bonds still firmly in the sights of a federal steroid investigation, prosecutors will impanel a new grand jury to take up where an outgoing one left off Thursday and consider perjury and tax-evasion charges against the star slugger.

"We are not finished," U.S. Attorney Kevin Ryan said. "We have postponed the decision (to indict) for another day in light of some recent developments."

Word that a Bonds indictment was not imminent came as one grand jury's term expired, but the lawyer for Bonds' personal trainer Greg Anderson said his client already has been subpoenaed to testify next week before a new grand jury that will take up the case.

Anderson, a key witness, was freed at midday from the federal prison where he was sent more than two weeks ago after refusing to testify against his childhood friend.

Any credibility here...or just nonsense?

They definitely are going after bonds. And they wont stop going after him until he gets punished. They're just wasting all their time, money, and effort into a case which doesn't even have enough evidence to prove that Bonds is guilty. The reason that they want to catch Bonds is because the baseball commissioner Bud Selig was taking a lot of criticism that he is not doing much to take care of all the "steroid issues." What ever happened to Mark McGwire, Sammy Sosa, and even Rafael Palmeiro. They haven't even spent much time on these guys. They need to catch Bonds in order to prove that they are actually doing something about steroid issues. With all this focus on Bonds, who knows, there might be another player who is unknowingly using steroids.

The grand jury had expired. They spent most of the time on perjury charges and the tax fraud did not pop up until the end. They are going to call a new grand jury for the tax fraud and Anderson will be going back to prison when he refuses to testify again.

The government couldn't prove anything perjury in 3 years! They look more racist everyday. They had Palmiero say over and over to the grand jury "no I never took steroid" then a few weeks later he test positive for steroids and they do nothing. Now the government is going to try to get Bonds on income tax evasion, which is bullshit, if he owes income tax just tell him what he owes and let him pay, but no they don't want this money, they want to put on their KKK uniform and hang him because he is black.

Oh hit 868 homers in Japan yet Bonds is the present chief interior the U. S.. i'm no longer a Bonds fan and that i'd ought to assert that i'd question his numbers by using allegations antagonistic to him. i'm confident there are various gamers accessible which have used body improving drugs in each and every of different events. If some are criminal, then there is not any longer some thing you may say about it yet when the participant took unlawful improving drugs, the man must be banned and their record discarded.

It is unfortunate, but it is obvious to me that Bonds is a target. Many, many players (in mostly all of the pro sports) use or have used steroids. Its a sign of our times. They even do it in the high school and college levels. Why is he singled out? I personally am not a advocate of enhancement drugs, but why pick on one player. One person write a ("telI all book") for profit...and not it is viewed as a bible. Is it because he is less than friendly with the press and they continue to harass him? Is it because he is a top player who is very gifted but refuse to let them dominate him? Is it because he has surpassed Babe Ruth (an idolized white hero) and is moving toward being #1 in home runs? I mean, what is the point. I compare it to the Clinton issue...he was persecuted for the Monica L situation and not recognized for any of the value and otherwise good decisions he made while in office. Yet we have a president now who has lied to us and sent our loved ones to death in an unjust war, make secrete invasions on our privacy and that is OK.
I love my country and appreciate the many advantages we have. However true justice seem to be for the select few. Them it means "just-us".

I think prosecutors are looking to build an air-tight case.

It sends a message that the highest profile player for the last decade is taken down for his crimes. If he gets off, it sends an entirely different message to the tax cheats and drug abusers.

its seems that they will keep bringing charges up on him till they get something to stick. because to me the MLB investigation has no teeth and there really isn't too much they can do to him until he tests positive for something. so they will keep trying till he just goes away.
