I think most people will say that they would prefer to lose their hearing. Being able to see allows us more independence and gives us the ability to do things on our own. You can still do most of the same things you presently do if one day you wake up blind. However, I think I would prefer to lose my sight. While I would be more dependent others and it would be a heckuva lot harder to do most of the things I normally do, I would still enjoy my "quality" of life.

I would definitly like to have my sight and lose my hearing. Reasoning being that human beings have very strong power of visualization and spatial experience. There are so many times we spend time without having any noise around us. I guess it will be quite peaceful not to be able to hear all noise while able to see all color, shapes and other fantastic things around. Today technology is advanced enough to support people who can't hear nearly in all dimensions of life. However there had not been any significant advancements for people who are blind. So I guess I will go for losing my hearing and not sight.

There would be no question as far as I am concerned. I would choose to keep my sight and loose my hearing. If you are blind you could not be nearly as independent. You could not drive, or get around very well.. and you could always learn sign language and read lips... if you are blind there are many more limitations.
I have a lot of respect though for people with both of these handicaps.. they truly have a lot to overcome..

My hearing. Imagine losing your sight. You couldn't see a thing whatsoever. I could standing not hearing, at least I wouldn't run into things or need a dog to pull me everything. It would be terrorizing to not be able to see the person you love or if you had a child to not be able to even see a child you made. Besides, if you were deaf and had a child, even better :D

Well if I have to choose, it would be my ability to hear. Because, if you are blind, you are basically helpless for the most part because you can't even go to places or get around. But if you are deaf, at least you are not so helpless as you can still get around to places by yourself. I think being deaf is a whole lot more better than being blind.

Neither but if I had to choose, I would say my hearing, cause I can read. So if someone had something to tell me, I could read it and reply. My grandmother is losing her hearing at 80 years old. She never learned to read or write so it is a sad situation. I don't wish that on anyone.

I think it would be the ability to hear. I love to read, and do cross-stitch. Plus they have sign language, and you can learn to read lips. I went to school with a boy who's father had lost his hearing when he was 18. You couldn't tell he was deaf unless he told you.

I wouldn't choose. I'd rather die! To not look your lover in the eyes, to not hear the sound of the ocean or a newborn baby cry? Never, I would never give that up.

Although I'd hate to loose either completely, I'd have to say my hearing. I'm already deaf in one ear, so loosing the other would be understandable. I couldn't bare not being able to see anyone.
