Even if imaginary, is there any difference in what they are thought to be?

No, they aren't the same thing. An angel is a benevolent celestial being, in particular as described in Christianity, Judaism, Islam, and Zoroastrianism. An angel is an intermediary between heaven and earth or, in some cases, is perceived to be from Deity to assist humans as a "helper" or "protector". They are not and have never been human, but are an entirely separate entity.
A ghost is the lasting energy of someone who once lived but is now deceased.
So, yes, there is a difference in that a ghost was once a living entity with shape and form while an angel ------- I guess one can say, just "IS" and has never had an earthly life as we know it.

angels are harder to find; being in the presence of an angel is a completely different experience from seeing a ghost. If you see a ghost you'd be afraid while if you see an angel you wouldn't feel afraid; angels glow like a sun, and are very beautiful, ghosts look like normal people;you find a ghost in a scary, dark, abandoned place, while an angel is found when you need to be saved. also, angels can take on different forms; angels are divine, ghosts are not

yes there is a difference - a ghost is a human bound spirit which has not crossed over to the other side. An Angel has never been in a human form.

No they are not the same. Ghosts are spirits of the dead who have not yet "crossed-over to the other side". Angels are heavenly beings (some believe that some spirits of the dead can become angels, others don't) that come to Earth to do God's will; help people, be guardians, etc.

Yes there is a big difference between them.
Ghost are the souls of people who once lived on this plain of existance. and come back with unfinshed business temporarly or are lost or don't want or know that their physial body is dead.
Angels are those souls that have never incarated into physical form.

Ghost probably just waiting to be judge to go hell or heaven. while angels seems to be both from hell and heaven. remember Lucifer was the most beautiful angel before he got cast out of heaven.

Ghost's are spirits of trapped souls who are roaming to "get to the other side" and angels are spirits sent by god who have already "crossed to the other side"
