Well if you have the room I'd say both. I've heard Guinea pigs and rabbits make great companions for each other. But it depends on what lifestyle and room you have. Guinea pigs are kind of skittish and rabbits can be a bit less timid but ether way it depends on the personality of both animals.
But if you can get both then both the rabbit and Guinea pig can keep each other company and entertained whenever you're not at home. Plus they'll adjust better if they have someone with them.

A guinea pig makes a wonderful pet... much better than a rabbit.
Guinea pigs are extremely sensitive to human contact, and will chirp at you for attention. If you handle your guinea pig lovingly and often from the time they are babies, they will be very tame and will always welcome your attention.
They LOVE fruits and vegetables, and will eat all the scraps when you prepare fresh foods like celery and carrots. They love the tiny little tomatoes also, and get red beards from eating them.
We had one when our children were in grade school, and we kept him in a big wooden box in a corner of the kitchen. Every time he heard cellophane crinkling, he would chirp for us to share with him.
When the children would pet him, he would purr and shiver. He would take a nap on their laps.
Guinea pigs don't require a lot of veterinarian care either. You should take them to the vet every once in awhile to get their nails trimmed. Otherwise, they will get very long and he could become crippled.
Guinea pigs live about 4-5 years at the most-- which is about the right amount of time for a child to enjoy them.

guinea pig. They can be really friendly. Rabbits can be friendly too if they're not kept in a cage, but they're harder to get along with if they are caged most of the time. They may be cuter but they make a much bigger mess and need a bigger cage. Plus I think it's mean to keep a rabbit caged up, they're a lot like cats and very active. If you can let it run free go ahead and get a bunny. They can be litter trained but they're hard to have around cuz they like to chew on electrical cords. So go with a guinea pig, they deal with cage life much better. Plus I have old scars from "bunny" scratches! I call them rabbits now, they're not so cute after you get to know them lol

I'm not, gonna to yell at you. :o) Anyway, that would depend on what you would like. Try and do some research on each and see what you like about each. They both like to be picked and and rubbed. I like a bunny better. But I use to own a Ginnie pig once and he was cool. My Aunt use to put ribbons in the Genni pig hair and it ran around the room all pretty looking! :o) Anyway, you can't go wrong with either, they both make great pets.

Rabbits should not be kept in cages, despite popular belief, and are a real commitment. You would need to let your bunny run free, litter train it, and have it fixed and annual vet check ups. Guinea pigs are not as active or intelligent as rabbits and should be kept in a cage. Guineas are not as hard to care for as bunnies. You need to talk with your parents and see what would work best for the whole family.

I'd go for the bunny. Guinea pigs really don't do much. They make cute noises, but they're not the most active creatures.

guinea pigs make nice pets, but they can make a lot of noises, they can whistle and squeal very loudly at times..........they like clean bedding, and water bowls, preferably a water bottle.........how old are you? do you have any brothers or sisters who can help you? have fun with a 'pig' my sister and i had them when we were little kids and we enjoyed them a lot, FEED ONLY guinea pig food, and maybe bites of carrots and small amounts of lettuce, NO PEOPLE FOOD, NO CANDY, etc......sharon t. from ohio
