Why do certain people ask questions that are racially driven, use stereotypical language like "you people" and then expect an honest yet unbias opinions. Maybe they do it so that other people who agree with them can state how bad or how well someone does something while bashing the opposite of it. Why ask a question without an open mind and unoffensive wording?

there are a lot of reason that people ask questions like that. I was brought up to respect everyone's opinion no matter how stupid it may seem. You have to realize that everyone wasn't raised the same there are those people that like to blame others for their misery or inadequacy just because it is easier to blame others, especially someone from another race or religious background.

I have noticed this in the "you Americans understand nothing" questions. The askers seem genuinely surprised that they are getting a lot of hostility directed their way in the answers given - but they word their questions in a condescending and insulting manner, relying on media stereotypes of America seemingly garnered from watching US TV shows (which are just soooo accurate in their depictions).

I think that they just do want other people who already agree with them to support their stereotypical viewpoint.

So why do they bother to ask the question in the first place?

Terms like "you people" are not helpful when trying to make a point. However, on the other side, there are reasons why we have stereotypes. Certainly not every person of a group can be defined by a stereotype whether they are black, white, gay, democrat etc. Sometimes facts are facts though, even if people don't want to hear them.

Our society shapes everything about us. Often times people don't realize that they are stating something that is "biased" or "stereotyping". Stereotyping is a powerful force within our society...think about it. For it to happen without realization, is it any wonder that we can become so easily divided?

There are many explanations for this kind of behaviour..
one reason can be ideas that arise from early socialisation..school ..media..limited approach..and may be someone says they are racialist and they accept that labell ..
(one example)
Machoism..social circle that encourages to do that ..
and be one of them without knowing it..
Ignorance
may be to seek approval ..or just accepting the labell
Ofcourse every human is different this can be one explanation for that..

Because human beings by and large, are an offensive, narrow minded, tunnelled-vision lot.

You'd have to state the question, but isn't an ignorant person who is trying to learn better than an ignorant person who doesn't care?

Thank you for saying this!!!!!!
I can't tell you how many questions I've seen where people word their questions that kind of way, like, "Why does (insert one group of people) hate (insert another group of people)?" or something like it.
