We Republicans live in the real world. They live in a fantasy world. They really DO think Martin Sheen is President. They really DO think Geena Davis is President. They think WE are responsible for two very tall buildings being destroyed in NYC about five years ago. They want to apologize for America's success because other countries don't have what we have. Well, we got that way because our Founding Fathers wrote it down that our freedom comes from God and not from man. Liberals believe in government-- the bigger the better. They believe that all goodness and light flows from Washington, DC and that they know best what's good for you. Republicans believe in the individual and his desire to build a better life via his own efforts. Ronald Raegan said it best when he said that government is not the solution to all our problems-- government IS the problem. By that he meant that the government was too big and that it was time to reduce its size and let Americans grow and live and earn to their heart's content. Libs hate it when one man succeeds to a higher level than another. They say "that's not fair." They try to make everybody equal by tearing down the achievers and producers. That idea is flawed at its core. If nobody produced (and got rich doing it), where would we be? We'd be in France, is where we'd be. The US creates thousands and thousands of new jobs every month. Less than 5,000 new jobs have been created in France in the last TEN YEARS because they have unions that protect old jobs and don't allow new ones. They are writing their own death warrant with thinking like that. Screw 'em...

I think you should make a distinction here between moderates and far-right Republicans. Whereas I have no beef against moderates, I consider far-right Republicans the cream of the idiotic crop. Their arrogance is as disgusting as French arrogance, if not more, and yet most of them hate the French for precisely what they are themselves. Far-righters believe they are smarter than everyone else; only true idiots believe that. They are also never willing to listen to other people's arguments and question their beliefs: only fools don't change their opinion, even when it is proven to them that they are wrong. When they run out of arguments to defend their less than defendable position, they find an escape used only by intellectually limited people: "It's Liberal Propaganda". Your arrogance and self-righteousness is self-evident by most reponses to the question above. If you were just a tiny bit more humble and open, maybe things would change...
As far as believing in God, many people Liberal or not, do, but in different ways. Whereas hardline conservatives believe that their version of God is correct, I think Liberals are more tolerant towards other people's views. Why don't the far-right conservatives see themselves through the eyes of their politically identical friends: the hardline conservative Islamic rulers in Iran???They are the same thing.

Generally, the tendency of many Republicans to want to impose their religious and moral values on everyone else.
Note: I'm not a liberal. But many liberals I know have no problem with being fiscally conservative, with being strong on defense, with wanting smaller government. What they oppose is any group trying to force another to conform to their particular beliefs. Liberals believe in freedom and liberty and diversity, and not in conformity.
Many Republicans argue back that forcing them (republicans) to tolerate same-sex marriage or abortions is just forcing liberal views on the world. But it's not a valid analogy.
There's a huge difference between one side saying "you are allowed to do something I don't like" and the other saying "you are not allowed to do something I don't like". Liberals aren't trying to force people to have an abortion or force someone to be gay. But much of the Republican platform is trying to force someone not to have an abortion or punish someone for being gay. There's a difference.
Liberals seek to allow individual choice. Republicans seem to want to limit individual choice, and have the majority decide what's best for everyone.
Why can't people understand that freedom of choice is not a minority value, even if the majority happens to disagree with the minority's choice?

1.) Powerful and Continuing Nationalism: Fascist regimes tend to make constant use of patriotic mottos, slogans, symbols, songs, and other paraphernalia. Flags are seen everywhere, as are flag symbols on clothing and in public displays.
2.) Disdain for the Recognition of Human Rights: Because of fear of enemies and the need for security, the people in fascist regimes are persuaded that human rights can be ignored in certain cases because of "need." The people tend to look the other way or even approve of torture, summary executions, assassinations, long incarcerations of prisoners, etc.
3.) Identification of Enemies/Scapegoats as a Unifying Cause: The people are rallied into a unifying patriotic frenzy over the need to eliminate a perceived common threat or foe: racial, ethnic or religious minorities; liberals; communists; socialists, terrorists, etc.,,,,,,,,,,(like you are diong)
4.) Supremacy of the Military: Even when there are widespread domestic problems, the military is given a disproportionate amount of government funding, and the domestic agenda is neglected. Soldiers and military service are glamorized.
5.)Obsession with National Security: Fear is used as a motiReligion and Government are Intertwined: Governments in fascist nations tend to use the most common religion in the nation as a tool to manipulate public opinion.
6.) Religious rhetoric and terminology is common from government leaders, even when the major tenets of the religion are diametrically opposed to the government's policies or actions.vational tool by the government over the masses
7.)The industrial and business aristocracy of a fascist nation often are the ones who put the government leaders into power, creating a mutually beneficial business/government relationship and power elite.

That your interests only serve other interests, and not people.
