Last night, I was drinking, and I set a shot of brandy on the part of the laptop that didn't have any keys, next to the mouse, and I went to reach for it, and my drunk @ss spilled it on my keyboard, and the computer shut itself off. I turned it over as soon as it happened and tried to wipe it dry, but I think it already fried stuff in my computer. If I leave it alone and let it dry, do you think it will come back on? Cause right now, it won't even turn on. The light for the battery is orange instead of yellow. Do you think if I take it to somebody, they can save it, or do I have to buy a whole new one?

Oooh ... not good, not good.

Whatever you do, leave it off until you think it is completely dry INSIDE and
out.

Then, if turning it on does nothing, try removing the battery and seeing if
it is fried (it may have shorted out). If you're lucky, that's all the died.

However, I would tend to doubt it. You probably fried the circuit board
and the only thing recoverable will be the disk, maybe the battery and
any peripherals that were in it. The rest is probably junk.

I've always said that people shouldn't drink while using computers.
That's not what I had in mind, but it will do!

In order to diagnose your computer problem you would have to provide a lot more detalis. I'll tell you a better plan, though. Go to a forum called CastleCops (see link below), and post your problem in the right forum category and an expert will get back to you with an answer very shortly. The forum is free and run by volunteers that do professional work during their day jobs.

I am so sorry....and just to let you know we've all pulled this one....of course, mine was coffee (extra sweet) and not brandy but that's not the point.

I'm no computer expert but I'd suggest you take it in and have someone who is qualified look at it.

Good luck!

Honestly, its a lost cause despite how convient laptops are they are just as fragile and desposiable despite the high price you pay. So sorry there is no saving it.

go to the store you bought it from and tell them what happened they might be able to fix it

i would say wait for a couple of days to see if it works

Take it to someone to see if they can save it, but if not, go and buy a new one.
