You didn;t say how old you were, whether you live in a small town or big city,or out in the country? What kind of riding will you be doing? Street ,dirt and trail, what? There are bikes that serve a dual purpose as they are both street legal and have tires and gear ratios for offroading. How much money ya got? It is a known fact you will drop it on occasion (we all did at first and luckily we had small bikes with less than a few hundred bucks involved) So depending on what you plan and how you plan to ride it keep it between 300cc-500cc and and DO NOT PAY MORE THAN $1000 for it in case you tear it up. Take someone with you that knows bikes so they can tell if brakes, acceleration and tracking are good. You sit on it and make sure you can put both feet flat on the pavement and with it on the kickstand the foot controls feel comfortable and not too far back. Good Luck and I hope you enjoy many yrs of safe ,fun riding

stay the hell away from Harley's all they do is make noise I started on a zx6r and was very happy with it for 3 seasons a few of my friends started on the ex250 and 500 they felt that they wasted there money because within a few months they were putting down more money for a 600 if you want to do wheelies get a cbr600rr the short wheel base lets them come up easy if you want to get a used dike which is your best bet get something around 01 02 the enduros like the KLR are fun to ride and you can turn them into super moto bikes and embarrass your sport bike friends it the twistys I would also like to say that if you get a 1000 you have a chance of slipping the wheel and getting high sided in a corner and remember if the side of your tire ain't fuzzy then you can corner faster good luck

If you are a beginner, I'd get a small to medium bike, somewhat depending on your size. I'd get a Harley Davidson 883, you can get the 'L' if you're height challenged like me...lol
Personally right now I'm looking at the Kawasaki 900 Vulcan...sweet looking bike. Probably not the best for a beginner, but I do have some experience. Good luck!

I would start out small and gradually move up to a bigger bike. Maybe start out with a second hand 250 to 400 CC bike that won't hurt your wallet too much if you drop it. Then gradually moving to a 600 and 750cc bike. As you get older you'll probably move into the 1000cc and up bikes. But definitly start out small so you don't kill yourself.

Purchasing a motorcycle is not a matter of which one should I get....you need to go to several dealers and sit on alot of bikes....wait till you get your license so you can test drive them too. Only you willbe able to pick out the one that is most comfortable for your body and ability.

Shop around, ask an experienced biker for advice. The internals (the engine) is very important. Honda seems to be a popular brand in my country.

depends on if you want a cruiser or a sport bike. either way i would suggest getting a 600. 600's are good starter bikes. i had a 600cc honda shadow for my first bike and i loved it. if you want a sport bike i would suggest the honda 600cbr or the kawasaki zzr600. if you want a street bike i would get a honda shadow 600 or a kawasaki vulcan
