I am surprised to hear how many mind numbing topics get interjected from people on subjects they know nothing about, with questions that aren't even worth asking. There are always some ridiculous answers that are the equivalent of spitting at someone you dont like in which no thought is given to them. My guess is that half of them are from "philosophical" college students who have become pawns of some egotistical professor who spout some self righteous wisdom like " the mountain is as only as big as you make it" and then walk off like they know all the answers to life.
Wake up people, do some research for yourself, seek after truth, dont settle for the mediocre.
I challenged some people earlier to prove the Bible wrong, the best I've heard was someone who had a internet site that was all about disproving Christianity based on modern books. Lame. Others thought Christianity should prove itself.
The reality......no one has to prove anything...the truth is.

Speaking of people that like to hear themselves talk...

I have a sort of idea that philosophy doesn't have anything to do with finding truth or solving anything to begin with. That's what science and women's literature is for. Philosophy involves taking an idea, expanding upon it until exhaustion, all to the end of finding no solution. That's why you can't make any money at it, and that's where all those stuffy professors you mentioned are from.

Clearly you have never taken a course in logic and argument.

You can not prove a negative. It can't be done. No one will ever prove there is NO life on other planets, because the universe is infinite and we'll never be able to check EVERY other planet.

Similarly, because the Bible relies so heavily on faith, it will never be possible to disprove. It's a matter of what you believe. But just imagine for a second that the Bible is all fictional (perhaps a few of the historical figures are real enough, but I mean the parts about God and Jesus and angels and such).

Now what would ever prove that fact, in as much as the existence of those things is entirely on faith? With belief being based on nothing but faith, it is impossible to disprove, because there's no evidence to discredit.

Christianity does not need to be proven or disproven, but until such time as it is proven to be true, those who spout off as though anyone who doesn't believe is somehow refusing to see the evidence before them are deceiving themselves.

You question has virtually nothing to do with your body.

My guess (in answering your question) is that philosophers are only pleased when they are right.

The questions/answers thing of yours. It doesn't matter! If you don't like a question, don't look at it. Don't be offended or annoyed by them. There is something for everyone and every level of intelligenve here (or almost, anyhow). So just find your type of questions and stick with them.

The college student bit... yeah, right! Just get over it. Not everyone here is as smart as you are. And talking about self righteous... you come off sounding like one too, ya know?

I liked the 'wake up people' sentence. Very true.

About the Bible thing: this is not a bitching forum. If you couldn't find a challenge here, look elsewhere.

The truth is.

When I took philosophy in college, I noted it was really nothing more than speaking in a circle. Tell me something, tell me again, tell me one more time in case I didn't get it the first two times. But you took it a step further. You asked a very good question and then, answered it yourself. Truth is...perception. Any philosopher or intellect knows this. There is no reality only what you think is reality. This goes for everything under the sun and the sun itself. Philosophy is a riddle that hurts the brain to the point of crazed lunacy. My truth...I know yours. You told me.

How are you immune with such grand stipulations:

"The reality......no one has to prove anything...the truth is."

That's worse than Moore saying: this is a hand, this is another, therefore I know 2 things about the world.

Maybe you're talking about un-substantial philosophers.. people who lack reasoning, the anti-philosophical, the unpersuasive and illogical.

In which case, great, let's beat that devil.

In case you think them to be philosophers, you're lumping "them" with others who don't give a **** about their own personal views, who live in a community and try their best to ADD to the claims given, to expand and clarify.

Solipcists have no purpose besides narcisism. Why you would call those philosophers is beyond my experience.

Dude, i won't be in a position to respond to all your questions regarding the bible, cuz I never study it, yet i can allow you already know one ingredient, in case you have not heard the bible you do not bypass to hell, the place did you pay attention that?! distinctive human beings in this international not likely in any respect even heard the religious e book call "bible", and that they of course do not bypass to hell, and we don't even understand the place they bypass, perhaps there is not any such ingredient as hell and heaven, so there.

Everybody likes to hear themselves, or see their ideas in print. (blogs, anyone?)
Since you don't really have a question and you typed up a long rant, you've just proved the theory.

a wise man said once he is wise...would you listen to him?

it is your perspective in life that matters most. challenges? that would be one way of learning.....experience something for a change.

go to a kids movie and see how the children get so involved in the characters, the story... their in limbo... and at the end you hear their wisdom say...nice but its just a movie.....
somethings in life are meant for display and to please.... i guess the real things in life are the ones that are just in our grasp and yet.....well i guess a true wise man would know these things ..i would listen to the one who would keep quiet ... in his way he would be telling me to do the same...hear...feel...experience .and contemplate.

Peace.
