When a man dumps a woman for whatever reason, he's automatically labeled as a "dog". However, when a woman dumps a man, it's always the man's fault and she did all she could to make the relationship work.

It's just not right, and do not try to argue that this is not the case, just give me some input why this is an acceptable double standard in our society?

Ask the feminist wackos. They are the ones perpetuating this crap.

Actually, there is a good reason why the double standard exists:

Women are more likely to talk about all of the nitty gritty details about
what happened than men are.

Men are embarassed and generally grow silent and push the issue away
from them. Women grieve (loudly) and then get on with their lives.

If they are the only one talking, why wouldn't it be a one-sided point of view?

As any psycho-therapist, there are lots of stories on either side of the aisle.

Well, it depend on if the man had a good reason, like she cheated on him, etc. I never heard of someone being labeled as a dog, but w/e. You should have good reasons for dumping someone.

It's not an acceptable double standard, actually, and it sounds like you don't think so either.

Personally I think it depends on the people you are around. Often times I've seen it the other way around, depending on how the break-up goes.

I don't think there's any sturdy rule for these sort of things.

It is the gentlemanly thing to do. The man takes the blame out of deference to the woman. It may not be right but it is kind.

I don't think it's a double standard at all I've heard guys talk about the _itch. The only differience is with guys it's a contest of who was the biggest _itch. When girls do it it's gossip.

Several of your respondents so far are on the right track. When it's a matter of cheating on the other, it's statistically more often the guy who's cheating than the girl.

WELL, I'M AFRAID I'M GOING TO HAVE TO MAKE YOU MAD. MEN ARE DOGS! OF COURSE I PROBABLY FEEL THIS WAY BECAUSE MY HUSBAND OF 20 YEARS TOOK OFF AND DUMPED ME FOR A SLUT JUST A FEW YEARS YOUNGER THAN OUR DAUGHTER WITH NO WARNING! HE CHEATED ON ME FOR 10 YEARS AND I DIDN'T EVEN KNOW IT BECAUSE HE WAS SUCH A SNEAK.

ANYWAY...I CAN'T BE NEUTRAL ABOUT THIS BECAUSE IT HAPPENS WAY TOO MUCH AND TO WOMEN A LOT OLDER THAN ME WHO HAVE A TERRIBLE TIME STARTING OVER WITH NOTHING. MY DAD DID IT TO MY MOTHER!!! THEY WERE MARRIED FOR 40 YEARS! AND IN OUR CASES WE WERE THE ONES WHO GOT THE SHAFT. THE SMALL TOWN 'GOOD OLE BOYS CLUB' WAS IN SESSION AT THE TIME. LONG STORY...

OK...I'M GONNA BLOW A VEIN. I'M REALLY SORRY, I JUST THINK IT HAPPENS A LOT MORE THAN YOU REALIZE.

Maybe for the same reason that a guy who is promiscuous is a stud, and a woman is a slut.
