I was thinking...is there anyone out there that believes that an aggressor found guilty of injuring a victim should spend at LEAST the same amount of JAIL time as the time needed for the victim to heal? IE. 3 months of pain, surgery and emotional injury of victim EQUALS 3 months of jail time. Death of victim EQUALS life sentence for aggressor.
Now mind you, I am not looking for a pro-life/pro-death argument for prisoners on death row.
I am just looking to see if the idea makes sense. :)
Thanks.

THE IDEA MAKES SENSE BUT, WHAT IF THE VICTIM IS A VERY BITTER AND REVENGE SEEKING PERSON AND THEY SAY THEY'VE NEVER GOTTEN OVER THEIR TRAMATIC EXPERIENCE? FOR EXAMPLE: GUY DRIVES WHILE DRUNK AND HITS A PERSON IN THEIR CAR AND THE VICTIM LOSES A LEG--HOW MUCH TIME SHOULD THE GUY SERVE? IT WOULD BE LIKE A MEASUREMENT SYSTEM, BUT BY WHO'S MEASUREMENT? IT COULD HAVE MURDERERS, RAPISTS, CHILD MOLESTORS DOING LESS TIME THAN SOMEONE WHO MAY HAVE KILLED SOMEONE IN A CAR ACCIDENT. THE IDEA DOES MAKE SENSE--ALMOST LIKE AN FOR AN EYE IN A WAY.

There is a program, for serious crimes, where the victim and perp meet face to face in prison. They both must agree to it, and it is mediated and both get some closure. It is the best thing I have seen.
