I work at this animal hospital and still feel weak and somewhat queasy at the presence and smell of abundant blood. This is an inevitable part of the job but it is already 6 months and I still feel uncomfortable in seeing surgeries performed and blood. I never thought blood had such a strong odor.

Try chewing some flavored gum each time you go in on a surgery, it will help with the smell. Animal blood is much worse with that than human. Also, try watching discovery health channel to desensitize yourself.

Start using snuff. It's powdered tobacco that you sniff into your nose. Just a pinch for both nostrils. It smells really good and will probably get rid of the blood smell. Also, research has shown that it does not cause cancer or nose problems.

Here's a question that may help answer your questions. Do you have kids? If so, how long did it take you not to get sick changing a poopy diaper? I know two different substances but same concept. Over time....

Wow, that sucks. I have an iron stomach when it comes to that kind of stuff. Umm, try watching gory videos. No wait, that might "scar" you. Well if you don't like it then quit.
