Foundation
Use foundation cream to cover up any little blemishes and give your skin an even finish. Choose a foundation color that is as close to your own skin tone as possible.
Powder
Powder is good for fixing your foundation and it adds a natural finish to the skin. It is great to use during the day on those areas of your face that get shiny. Loose powder gives an even finish and the excess is easy to remove, but it is more expensive than pressed powder and you can't carry it with you without making a mess. Compressed powder is easier to carry around, and it usually has a mirror in the compact, which is very convenient. It is best to use a translucent one to avoid looking orange or pink.
Concealer
Dot concealer under your eyes and on any areas you want to conceal. Blend it in well, but gently under your eyes. If you get dark circles under your eyes from allergies, concealer may become your best friend.
Blusher
Be careful where you put it, you could end up looking like a clown. Sweep it outward to widen your eyes, and a little under your cheekbones gives you a chiseled look. A dab on the chin and nose is fine too if it is a light shade. Cream blushes are extra moisturizing so they're ideal for dry skin (oily skin -types steer clear). Blend onto your cheeks to create a just-took-a-jog flush. Powdered blushes absorb oil so they're perfect for oily and acne-prone skin. Plus, they create a matte finish for a shine-free face.
Eye Makeup
For daytime and school, try to keep your eye makeup as natural looking as possible. That means use neutral tones. Use a light color to cover your eyelid and eye socket. Next, take a slightly darker shade and shade in above your eye crease and down to the top of your eyelid. If you like highlighter, use it on your brow bone and put it on last. Use eyeliner to outline the eye as close to the lashes as possible. Some people look good with liner on the bottom of the eye, and some don't. You will have to see what looks best on you, try one lining style on one eye, another on the other, and see which looks better on you. If you like mascara, apply a coat or two to the upper lashes and a bit on the lower.
Lipstick
Teens either like lipstick or hate it. It does add color to your face and helps give you a finished look. You don't have to match your lip color to your clothes or your blush. Lip pencils look great on some people and awful on others. Outline your lips with the pencil in either the same shade as your lipstick or one shade darker. Add a touch of lip gloss afterwards if you like. Most models say their "lipstick secret" is putting on Blistex first and blending it in well before they put on any lipstick. It is supposed to make your lipstick stay on longer. It is also good for conditioning your lips.
Shimmer Gel
Shimmery highlighters can look really pretty for a party or for shopping at the mall with the girls. In the summer, you can wear them on your shoulders when wearing a sun dress, strapless dress or top. They look way cooler than a tattoo on your back if you are wearing that backless number!

You said this is your "first time" using makeup, so I don't know your age, nor do I know if it is acceptable in your school or what places you frequent. No matter what you use, use it sparingly. Makeup is supposed to make your skin look smooth.
During the day and at school you don't need eye shadow.
Usually a girl uses either black or brown mascara or a black/brown combination.
I would suggest pink blush (perhaps peppermint pink) and used on the triangle of your cheek nearest the top of your ear.. If you use light pink you can use it during the day. If you're going out and wearing evening clothes, the blush could be a tad darker.
Eyeliner ages a person. If you want to draw guys who are decent then don't use eyeliner. If you decide to wear black eyeliner then use it sparingly (you'll need to practice, and use powder on it so it won't spread all over your eyelid), and only on the top lid.
Make sure your makeup is nearest to your skin tone.
If you're ever in a mall in a popular expensive store like Sacks or Bloomingdales where they sell a lot of different types of makeup they have consultants who will give you a one-time makeup (in the past it's been free). just to try to sell their makeup to you. Have a clean face when you go in and let them show you how to apply the entire makeup. You don't need to buy their products. You'll find things there like Estee Lauder or Lancome, etc.
There are products like Mabelline, Bonnie Bell, even Revlon that are sold in your nearest pharmacy or grocery store that are good to use. Makeup is expensive so go by the color chart. You can even attend an Avon party where you can test out the different colors and shades of their products. They will teach you how to apply it. Have fun.

First, you really should ask your mother before you put makeup on. She is the best person to help you ( unless she doesnt do a good job). Make sure she is okay with it before you put it on. Okay, now for tips on how to, e-mail me at Autumn_Anne@yahoo.com and I can help you from there. I am a cosmetologist and can help you out, but i need to know what exactly you have and details about your face. i might be able to give you some websites that might be able to help. Or, feel free to IM me on messenger.. my ID is Autumn_Anne . Good luck sweetie!

first put a little eyeliner on: on the top lid above the lashes and on the bottom lid you can either do it under the lashes or on the part of your eye right above the lashes that is kind of IN your eye.. (sorry i can't explain it very well. be careful)
then, put on some eyeshadow: i usually start it in the crease of my eye and blend it down and very slightly up (less is more!)
then, apply mascara: i only do my top eyelashes
after that put just a little blush on your cheek bones: try out different face positions that make your cheekbones pop out and follow the bone (it should slant upwards a little)
then, you're done
a piece of advice--try out wearing makeup some night when you aren't going out, just for practice
and one more piece of advice--if you have trouble with it, consider asking your mom
i hope this helps, good luck!

It is hard to give an online consultation. You would need someone to show you how to properly apply and correct you if you are applying incorrectly. Where did you purchase your makeup from? Sephora gives free consulations and MAC suggests a $35 retail but make an appt with them first. If you go to their counter, and others have an appt, they get top priority.

Okay...I know how to put on ALL of it, but I can't explain it very good. I learned how to put all of it on my going to maybelline.com
Their are a couple of people from that company that shows you step by step how to put on: Nail polish, mascara, eyeliner, blush, eyeshadow, conceler, pressed powder, lipgloss, and lipstick. You could also go to covergirl.com
You can get a fashion consoltant, and they can tell you the best make-up you should use. All you have to do is take some quiz's.
~I hope that helped~

I agree with Mj--your mom would probably be flattered to be asked. If you still don't want to, ask a friend whose makeup looks good. Proper application of makeup is not something that can be explained in just words. Short of live help, look for books or fashion magazines.

Try out this 'Virtual Makeover' on my personal Mary Kay website. You can pick the model that closely resembles yourself and try different color combinations on her. There are also tips for how to apply everthing. If you need more assistance, I could get you in contact with a consultant in your local area to do a complete makeover for free. If you are under 18, you will need your parents permission. It may be fun to do a makeover with your mom.
