The question should be is he gay?.....he is still alive you know.
There has been rumors, but nothing has ever be substantiated. He's never come out, and nobody has ever romantically linked him with anyone as far as I know.

Maybe he is just HAPPY!
He had a really good singing voice. I remember him as the hillbilly garage mechanic on the Andy Taylor/Mayberry show.
He had a nasal, hick voice. Once in a while he would have some kind of opportunity in the show to sing, and it was unreal-the difference in his voice!
