I live in Sturgis and have for about the last 12 years, every year hundreds of thousands of bikers and vendors and just random passersby are drawn to this weeklong event (more like 2 weeks if you ask me with all the crowds). My opinion of this rally is very harsh and I don't like having to adjust my life around this event that I don't even want to be a part of anymore. I know you are saying why don't you just move away and I would although it is not that simple, my whole family including my wife's family live here and life would probably be made hell for me because it would be my idea to move. I just want everyones opinion of this event positive or negative and if you have even heard of it.

I have heard of it and have been there one time. I have friends that go every year and a very good friend that sets up a shop and does body art there. I feel your pain. I used to live in FL and when tourist season hit, we locals used to have to grin and bear it. Just remember how you feel about the bikers, when you go on vacation, and try to not piss everyone off. They are a rowdy bunch, but most of the bikers are very decent people. I empathize for the angst you feel when the bikers are there and hope you can find a solution to the problem. If not, just remember, It's only temporary. Thanks for a great question.

I've heard of it, because I live in the same state as you. I suppose it would be frustrating, but what about the times the rally isn't' around. Is life in Sturgis pleasant then?

If so, the extra revenue to the community might be worth it. But for you, it doesn't sound that way. Sorry to hear that!!

im sure that has to be rough for a while....and if thats not your culture, i dont blame you for not enjoying it. But isnt it at about the same time every year? if you know that far in advance, and you dont mind living in sturgis for the other 340 days of the year.......why not just take a vacation?
