I have this strange fear that happens when I am home alone at night. It usually has to be pretty late, but I have to have all of the curtains on my windows closed because I am scared that if I look out the window I will see either a person with a crazed expression on their face or a severely deformed person staring back at me. Am I crazy or is this pretty common?

I thought I was the only one! I'm exactly the same way...Even though i have 2 guard dogs in my yard. It's weird because I don't live in a populated place or downtown.

I don't have that fear, but certainly you are not crazy. We all have our fears and phobias, no matter how silly they seem. It could be that you do not want to be discovered in some way, or that you may feel vulnerable. Only a psychiatrist could help you interpret it, but it really does not matter unless you wish to find out. Make sure your doors are locked and windows too, and pull your drapes. There are real dangers in the modern world, but it is unlikely that someone wants to harm you. Still, being alone does sometimes make people feel ill at ease. But there are things you can do to make it better as suggested earlier. Many people feel like you do.

I think to a degree many of us have this feeling rather we admit it or not . Perhaps because it's such a popular theme in horror movies and the like that it sticks in our subconscious mind . So an open curtain makes us uncomfortable or represents danger for this reason. And of course for some we just value our privacy to a high degree or expect the worst just to be on the safe side.

Depends on the neighborhood you live in I guess. In ours it isn't that far fetched -- I had nightmares like that just last night. Too many break ins around here lately.

I'm sure we all have that fear. Keep the drapes closed and the miniblinds down, and bat always in close reach.

No, you're not crazy. Infact, it's much worse, he took a picture of you and it's all over the internet.
