The serpent didn't lie. He told Eve that her eyes would be opened and would know all, like the gods, if she ate of the forbidden fruit. Well, she ate the fruit, gave some to Adam, and their eyes were opened and they could see good and evil just as God could. They saw that they were naked and sewed fig leaves to make covering for themselves. And then they were ashamed and hid from God. Since God punished Eve more than Adam did she tell Adam where the fruit came from or did she just let him eat of it? If she omitted telling Adam, she was the first to lie by omission. If Adam was there and heard the serpent and ate, then he would be just as guilty.I believe I know the answers, do you?

I'm guessing when my parents told me about Santa and the Easter Bunny and the Tooth Fairy and that they'd never hurt me and always love me and all that compulsive lying for years. They were the first person in my world, everything else is ancient history.

And it coulda been Adam telling God, "NO, we won't go there, no way, uh uh."

First recorded lie would be .. uhm ... by Cain, son of Adam and Eve, after he murdered his brother. That's if you don't count the serpent (devil).

Cain to God. When The Lord asked him where was Abel {after he had killed him}, his answer was: "Am i my brother's keeper?"
