In a UK newspaper today, Coca Cola's new Zero has a picture on its label that might have a resonance with Ground Zero, the twin towers tragedy. Would Coke do such a thing and why?

I haven't seen the advertisement. But the term "ground zero" usually refers to a nuclear detonation. The term has other uses. Often terms that would normally be distasteful can be very funny. The term "nuke them" is often used as a metaphor. It depends upon how Coca Cola have done it and how many people make the connection you have made. Companies that annoy me - I don't buy from, simple. But I don't buy cola anyway, so it doesn't matter to me anyway!

Their advert worked didn't it? It caught your attention, it stuck in your mind, and now you're talking about it. Genius! I don't think people will avoid drinking it just because Coca-Cola took advantage of a disaster to market their product. Not in the UK anyway.

If true, it would be a major blunder... That said it is still publicity. If you ask me it is a lot of hooha about a re-badged diet cola...

It attracts peoples attention - there is a theory that no publicity is bad publicity and perhaps they were following this.

That would be very irresponsible for Coke, I don't think they would get away with it, if its true.
