Hmmm..
In a land where you can:
1)Buy and carry a gun.
2)Go get an abortion anywhere you want because you were too lazy to use birth control.
3)Gay's can marry (in some areas)
4)Marijuana is legal in some states
5)You have the choice to move/travel to any city/state in the country, any time you feel like it.
6)You can basically say anything you want, even about the leader of the country.
7)You can burn the national flag
8)You can sue a company because their product caused you to get cancer or obese, even though you had the freedom to NOT use it.
9)You can read, print, and talk about anything you want.
10)You can peaceably assemble/march about anything, anytime, anywhere.
11)You can vote to change your leader every 4 years.
12)You have access to a medium (the internet)
that you can rapidly send and recieve any information, from around the world instantly.

Can someone here please give me specific examples of how their rights are being eroded and "rapidly" taken away? I would really like to know. And none of the 45 conspiracy theories that abound that you "read on the internet".
Also, the 1st Amendment is not a catch all and an excuse to do and say whatever you want.
Whenever your rights infringe on someone elses rights, your rights are over.
Just because I can carry and own a gun doesn't give me the right to shoot anyone that pisses me off. When your freedom of speech turns into slander and libel, you're done.
When your anti-whatever march turns into a fire setting, rock throwing melee, you're done.
Get it?

If anything, I believe more and more have the freedom to talk about Bush than any other president in the past. You forget one thing here, in the past - and I do mean in the past - we supported the man in office.. wrote to congress, senate, even the president himself, when we disagreed. heck, we even burnt the flag.. in our own country! We never took what we had to say, outside this land of ours.. nor did we allow anyone outside of this country to speak against us, as we do now.
But I will agree with you on a few things, yes. We as a people, are being squeezed of our freedom in some areas.. We were told that this had to be done, right after 9/11. I don't know how much you paid attention to everything then.. but we, as a people, agreed to this..then. It's not the gov. that's stealing alot of our rights, we're giving more and more of our rights to the those few that run the streets.. carry the guns.. and steal our lives.
We can no longer discipline our children, demand that they pay attention in the class room, work an honest day of labor.. Since when did we allow them the right to control our lives...
When did we allow people to suddenly say 'One nation under God' isn't what I want, so all of you have to give it up!
Read your history books.. look what happened when Hitler ruled.. how certain things were 'given' away, little by little.. and not one did a thing to stop it. It's not the giv taking our rights, it's the people.. one by one by one.. start thinking like a nation again folks.. ONE NATION - INDIVISIBLE.. stop thinking in the terms of me me me..
or you're all going to wake up someday, and find out that this country is no longer ours..

You are absolutely right.

We are losing our civil rights. All in the name of fighting terrorism. What a load of crap to beleive we need to compromise our civil liberties to fight an enemy. The enemy is really those that try to take away our rights.

What ever happened to the courage of the American people? Only cowards would trade civil rights away to fight an enemy. Our president is a coward and a fascist. We can't trust anyone that wants to take away our rights. Why do we go along with it?

Stand up for yourselves, don't be cowards, call, write and tell our congresmen and Senators that they are cowards to give in to a fascist that would take our rights away.

If the dems don't win in Nov and in 2008, it will be too late. We will have lost our rights and freedom.

Democracy as we know it, and as our forefathers fought for is very rapidly being diminished in our society. The generations before us established through the years a standard by which our country was established only to have it given away with new laws and rights established for the minority movements.

We have extended the rights to include those imprisoned for crimes and at the same time, don't want to be known as the bad guy when dealing with the movement of terrorism. At the same time, we have erased from society the very foundation on which our country was established. We have made it a crime to refer to God for fear of hurting the religous rights of a minority movement. We have removed the right to say the Lord's Prayer in our schools for fear of reprisal from from those we bend over backwards to appease.

We have removed the rights of parents to dicipline their children as well the laws that protect our citizens. We have made our country a haven for terroists who would be punished severely in their own land for their evil ways and extended a open welcome for them to be in our land to inflict their evilness upon our society. We allow them more rights and freedoms then those who have fought for our rights and at the same time turned a blind eye to the needs of our worthy citizens.
Land of the Free is becoming a haven for those that flee and with it, we are shunning our law abiding people in favour of those hell bent on ruining what once was a glorious land.

God help us, before we lose it all.

Not just by the president. He's just an example of the problem.

The problem is too many people hating each other and arguing with each other and wanting to shut down (or shut up) everyone who disagrees with them. We've lost the concept of tolerance, which is what liberty is founded upon.
