Get yourself a high-powered hand-held green laser pointer (the ones that run on batteries) - anything over 200 milliwatts should do the trick, lighting paper or dry leaves easily. Not only that, but if you are lost, you'll have a heck of a way to signal your location, even in daylight!

rub two stones against each other resulting in generation of sparks.
OR
Take a magnifying glass and a sheet of paper. Hold the magnifying lens in such a way so the the sun rays fall on the paper through that lens. It will result in burning of the paper.

Magnesium firestarters are reliable and fairly easy to use--they will create a fire quite quickly.
You can also use a battery and steel wool to get a spark, that's very quick.
