Really? ALL Americans are ignorant. The ones that invented this thing called the Internet? The ones that invented pretty much every form of music since jazz? They had no knowledge of the outside world or other cultures at all? They thought they knew everything and ignored the outside world?

I see. You must be a fellow Canadian or someone from the Land of Eng as only those kinds seem to have this blinkered view formed by contact with fat white American tourists from the Midwest. All the Americans I know have a traveled farther and are much better educated than any Canadian I know of.

i believe some cultures are just more humble than Americans. those cultures are taught to set their egos aside and be receptive to others ideas and that they may not have all the answers.

those cultures have undoubtedly been conquered some time in their past., like many European countries, or Asian countries.

for Americans, in general, the ego is encouraged and allow to run wide open in kind of a self preservation, righteous style.

Americans have yet to be conquered so there is no humility.
and of course the world economy does revolve around the US dollar which helps feed into the American ego. combine these factors with the geographic size of the USA and Americans simply have it all right here. why live anywhere else.

it's a superpowers affliction. arrogance, hubris, avoidance of unintended consequences, ignorance of side effetcts, and a belief that the world would be better off if it would get it through its thick head that it ought to behave a lot more like we do than us taking on the challenge of learning about and understanding and then trying to tolerate them, the rest of the world. if a country has two choices in its conflict management arsenal, one being weapons and the other being good faith engagement, the superpower that chooses to apply weapons early and often is lazy and thereby derelict in its duty. as a superpower it should be our duty and a pledge of our sacred honor to more robustly attempt to understand and engage other country's less comfortable and more threatening ambitions. superpowers should rightly be charged with the responsibilty to make the extra effort. they lead that way. it would be helpful to have a presidential authority that understood such basic leadership principles.
