He likes to hug me at random moments. And if I sit down he seems to think me a place to lay his head on or something..... He is the very cuddling type too.
I do not mind most times (hanging out alone). I do mind though when in public he shows affection..... Then it is a bit embarrassing.....
Anything I can do?
BTW: We are both 16 years old.

Do you want him to stop, or do you just feel embarrassed if it happens in public? If he is a good friend I think you need to think carefully about what it is you really do want. When you know, you should quietly and calmly tell him what your problem is. Some people are more touchy feely than others. This can be a problem if two people with different feelings are close as one has to act against his own feelings.
I think you are right that cuddling in public is not really acceptable in our society between males. You need to tell him, as he might be socially immature, and not realise the probable effect of his behaviour. That is assuming that he is another boy, and not a dog. If he is a dog it is OK, and he can even lick you in public.

Diarmuid, it is very refreshing to hear a guy talk about a serious issue. Your friend seems just a little immature, and may be in need of touch. He may not get that at home...without hurting his feelings, and in private, before you go out in public, sit him down and tell him that you don't want to hurt him, but he really must stop clinging on you in public. Explain what you said above, in private it's okay with you, but in public, it's not. You can't do any more than be honest and kind. You have a good heart. Thank you for an opportunity to help.

Buy a taser; out him as a tree hugger, wear more leather spiked wrist bands, keep a ferret in your pocket to release during teder moments, purchase a semi-automatic pistol, or (and this is perhaps the ultimate sanction) declare that you don't need all this emo crap!

thats pretty sweet, assuming he isn't gay and neither are you, then he obviously just loves you, which is fine between hetero males, but maybe he is loving you too much? Or maybe he really does just want to get in your pants and experiment while you are young.

is your mate from Mediterranean if so dont worry cos thats the way they are, but if not its nice as its not easy to find a loving friend, dont feel that you have to explain your friendship to anyone.....
