Birth control is only 99% accurate. I know a couple friends who have still gotten pregnant while taking birth control. If you don't feel 100% confident, I would suggest you don't let him go inside of you. It's not worth the risk. You need to be safe. To avoid getting pregnant, take the pill and use a condom. There is still a small chance, but at least you're a little bit safer against pregnancy.

Here's some good info for you on birth control:

More than 10 million women in the United States use oral contraceptives, making them the most common reversible method of birth control. Although these pills are popular, reliable and well tested, they are not infallible. About half a million women using the pill become pregnant each year.

Researchers have found that body weight may affect metabolism sufficiently to compromise contraceptive effectiveness. Victoria Holt, an epidemiologist at the University of Washington, categorized women who filled out a health survey into four groups by weight. Women in the highest body weight category--above 155 pounds--had a 60-percent increased risk of oral contraceptive failure compared with all women of lower weight, according to Holt's 2002 study published in the journal Obstetrics and Gynecology.

The weight angle is relatively new so most people don't consider it, but if you're overweight I would say def. keep using a condom, just to be on the safe side!

And make sure you and your boyfriend are on the same page about what you would do if you did become pregnant. That's pretty crucial.

A good friend of mine just delivered her "birth control" baby a few weeks ago. She never missed a pill or anything. She found out that when she had bronchitis and her doctor put her on an antibiotic, that antibiotic reduced the effectiveness of the pill, and that's how she became pregnant. This is also true for other medications (both over the counter and prescription). If you do decide to go on the pill, ask your pharmacist before taking anything...even cold medicine. You never know what can make the pills not work as effectively! :)

NO birth control is 100% effective. I got pregnant while on the pill but I was taking antibiotics so it messed the birth control up. While on the pill though, make sure you don't miss your pill and try and take it at the same time everyday. If you follow it like the directions say, it is over 99% effective. But, if you think that having a baby would destroy your life....don't have sex at all!

Birth control is very very effective if you take it regularly. That means every day around the same time. If you miss a dose or take certain medications (like antibiotics) your risk of getting pregnant gets higher. Taken the right way birth control is more than 99% effective. It's also probably safe for your boyfriend to come inside you, but if you have questions you should still check with your doctor.

What I told my daughter when she went on birth control pills is this: you should still avoid having sex for 3-4 days in the middle of your monthly cycle, because yes, you can get pregnant while on the pill. It is about 90% effective-- and those are pretty good odds, but not 100%. By abstaining while you are ovulating, and most likely to become pregnant, you can increase those odds to about 99%.

But anybody who has sex should prepare themselves mentally for the possibility that they may become parents. You should make sure that your boyfriend understands this.

There's still a probability of about 2% that you can get pregnant. It's low, but it's always a risk anyway. But no method of birth control is 100% safe.

do not get your hopes up rapidly. reckoning on how lengthy you've been on them may nicely be a ingredient. now and again women only getting off the pill after years of use have a tendency to have complications conceiving rapidly. Take a even as, and attempt no longer to imagine about operating so demanding at it. only enable it ensue. rigidity may reason postpone also. some women rigidity out over getting pregnant and it takes them giving up on attempting before they actually conceive. good success Momma!

You can get pregnant on birth control if you also take antibiotics. My sister was on the pill but she had to take anitbiotics for something and ended up pregnant with my now two year old niece.

Birth control is not 100% so there is a slim to none chance they you may still get pregnant, but remember birth control does not protect against std's and such so be careful.
