Sex. Walking. Look up other methods (some are complicated). There are pregnancy teas that are supposed to help. I took pregnancy tea by the instructions exactly (use honey, the stuff tastes like grass), used evening primrose oil caplets both orally and vaginally by a few sites I read. I will say, though, that nothing I tried worked. You can try whatever you want (so long as it isn't dangerous, of course) but I have never heard of something that is certain to work without a doctor treating you (aka pitocin or other such things). And even then some professionals can't seem to jumpstart labor in some women. So, try what you want, the time will come when it comes, even if it takes a c-section to do it. (I will say though, that some midwives claim if you bleed from having your membranes stripped then you're about 80% likely to go into labor within 24 hours, if not the next week, but that should only be done by a professional.)

I've been having threats of preterm labor, and the things that tend give me contractions are stairs (even slight ones), lifting my toddler too often, and stuff like that. So I'll guess that those things can stimulate labor.

Edit: Oh yeah, I forgot to mention. Even though I tried to get labor started various ways, I was still 2 weeks late.

I have had six children and I have impacient each time, wanting this whole ordeal to be over.

I am 37 weeks myself and want this OVER! However,
I have tried the castor oil. no good, baby ended up having diareaha inside the womb. It will put you into gastric distress and good.

Alot of midwives reccomend the evening primrose oil. Inserted vaginally and taken orally.

Sex is important if your husband will comply, as much as you can get, it has a hormone called relaxin which causes the cervix to ripen.

Just look on the internet for " natural induction of Labor" and you will find advice from midwives. I have tried them all, and none have ever worked except for getting me excited about a few contracions and then they poop out.

My advice to you is to just take each minute at time, hope for a healthy baby, and enjoy this time the most you can.

Good luck

Real suggestion? Suck it up and wait 'till the baby is ready. Why would you want to compromise your child's health just because you're uncomfortable? Try to enjoy this alone time you have right now. Once the little one arrives your life will change forever.

I'm sorry to be the one to tell you this, and I can't believe no one's said it yet, but there is ABSOLUTLEY nothing you can do to make yourself go into labour early. Labour is brought on by a hormonal tip that your body releases. Castor oil, walking, jumping up and down, sex, spicy food.. NOTHING will do it. The only way to induce your labour is to have it induced at the hospital where they'll basically give you the hormone that your body releases. There are plenty of ways of quickening up labour once you've gone into it, but unfortunatley, nothing brings it on.

If you take castor oil you're going to cramp like crazy... don't do it!!!! Just walk alot during the day. P.S. Your baby's lungs may not be fully developed. You'll be taking a big risk if you do anything other than walk!!

When in Aug? If it's soon, you can walk with one foot on the curb and the other on the street, sounds crazy, I know, but supposed to speed up contractions.
