Man, I just quit my job as a jail officer and became a foot-beat cop. I've been frustrated wtih working with staff and inmates because EVERYBODY is pissed off all the time and in a bad mood.
So I go through another academy, get my assigment in a nice neighborhood, I walk 7 miles a day. I'm told to keep up appearances and say HI to everybody.
First off, people think I'm there to do them evil, they can't stand the sight of me UNLESS something is wrong and here's the best part. I bet I say hi, to about 200 people a day. I get MAYBE, 5 responses.
I swear, I'd like to pull my weapon out and crack one off in the back of their skulls.
I made more money at the jail-hell, I'll probably go back.
People suck

Yes,but i don't blame them anymore. There is something on that persons mind or something going on at home that has them preoccupied. It could be that they are unhappy with there life and or unhappy with the situation that they have found themselves in.I speak to them anyway, just maybe speaking and having a smile on my face will make them smile and bring them out of that sorry mood they're in.Not all people will respond positively when you smile at them, but there will be that few who will.By you smiling and speaking there must be something inside you that feels good when you do it.Keep it up,never let someone Else's bad mood or frown affect the goodness you feel inside.Remember, you are Gods child you should keep smiling just because of that.I hope that last line doesn't offend you, that's only my opinion.

No, because the courtesy of saying hi was a ruse.
Actually I have a horrible dark side, and I know that when I say hi and someone ignores me that it will release that latent force of evil.
I then proceed to tear them limb from limb and paint the ground with their spewing blood.
This feels way better than simply having them say hi back to me.
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA !!!!!!!!!!
Actually I never have that happen, because when I say hi to someone, I make direct eye contact well before I say hi or hello, or how's it going, and so there is a force of insistence almost that persuades them to say hi back.
Yep, never had that happen.

No, I chose to speak to them! If I'm a person who likes to speak to people - that's my choice - they have no obligation to speak to me back! If this is part of your personality - keep speaking - people not speaking is part of the process though! This shouldn't effect your behaviour! If this is someone that you see all the time - either speak to them - or stop speaking to them - depends on if you like rejection!
If you are a person - who just likes to speak to people - you'd be surprised at how many times that you do that - and someone will tell you how much they appreciate your kindness!
If you choose to do this - it's your choice of behaviour - that gives you some type of self satisfaction - allow others the same choice - if they don't know you - I'm sure its not personal against you because they don't - they are just exercising their choice - just like you!
Hi!

I need to defend this...
It could be because the person is hard of hearing. This would be me... sometimes I simply don't hear someone. Or I may hear them say something but I don't know what it is they are saying... so I will just smile and say yes or what ever seems to be appropriate. The reason I do this is because I get tired of saying UH? a lot.

It's natural to be annoyed when we think we are being slighted, but keep in mind that some people are hard of hearing, some are lost in thought, some are frightened of strangers, some cannot see well, and some people are just plain mean. Don't let their actions dictate your actions.

yes, because no sane person likes to be snubbed or ignored. but then there are people like me who are practically blind, but refuse to wear their ugly broken glasses. I've probably failed to wave at alot of people, which I'm very sorry for. But other people don't have an excuse, and I'm sorry if anyone deliberately did that to you.

yes I do. We should all be so friendly as to say hi to people when we walk past them. This is how you meet people and it might make the world a better place. I would say hi if you said hi as you walked past. Thanks for being so friendly. :)

The more I get to know people, the better I like my dog. I don't make the attempt to speak first. If they don't speak, neither do I.
