Yes, and we also had to bankrupt the UK to py the US. Infact the US made a lot out of the war if you consider they were making money out of the UK, USSR and Germany

Tsk, tsk, so much hate, anger and bigotry. Sounds like you feel inadequate, probably an inferiority complex. Did your girlfriend run off with an American? Or did a Jew perform better in school than you, like maybe in history? It wouldn't be hard judging from this tirade.
No one has said that Britain did not do a fabulous job of holding out against the Germans. Any other country in Europe would have surrendered under the onslaught. This is why Churchill is considered one of the most influential people of the 20th century and was greatly admired by all Americans. If Britain had not held out, there would have been no base from which to retake Europe. Hitler would have won. Where you err is in your hatred and your not balancing your comments with facts. Britain would have eventually run out of fuel, airplanes, ships, munitions, etc. and it would have had to surrender.
If America had not supplied Britain, it would have been impossible for Great Britain to hold out. Also, you needed the American army to help you and the other members of the Commonwealth to take back Europe. You didn't have the numbers and equipment to do it by yourself. And let us not forget the role of the Russians who suffered greatly pushing back Germany. You probably hate them and have nasty names for them too, but they were necessary to help defeat Germany. As for the job Britain did of defending the commonwealth against the Japanese, I suggest you do a little reading. I think you might be in for a shock.

65 years ago! Winston Churchill knew about Pearl Harbor before it happen! Why did he want the USA to get involved if He had everything under control? Never the less I am a American and we still complain about the Civil War(1861-65) from time to time! I watched all the British matches during the world cup and still like Triumph motorcycles . Americans loved the british invason during the 1960's (The Beatles ,The Monkeys, Pink Floyd, So too all Brits you still have friends across the big pond!

wow, someone is bitter.
You'd think you'd be more appreciative that the Americans got involved at all.
How long do you think the Brits would have kept the Nazi's at bay? You are only a small island after all.
I love Britian. My wife was born and raised there. I lived there for a bit.
Maybe you should learn to love your allies too.... or else there may come a day when you need them again, and they aren't there because of your wenging and moaning.

Ok darling this getting quite annoying. You and most of the "yanks" (and btw, i'm sick of that term, I get enough of it at work thanks) on here are both wrong. Britain is no longer a super power, and America won't be forever. Both of us have sat on our asses at some point. And yes American history is rooted in British, and the USA hasn't been around as long and therefore didn't profit from empirialism as much. Now, I'd appreciate it, as an American with English, Welsh, Irish, and German roots, who lives in London, has a father who is welsh, is engaged to a Brit, went to uni in Scotland, and is applying for dual citizenship if you would stop with the useless, pointless, and often incorrect slander. 3 questions mate? Come on...go whine about us with ur like-minded biggotted friends, and get off my site, ok? thanks. And don't insult my intellegence, I can tell from here that's it's higher than yours.

Did you bother to actually research this? The US DID NOT do nothing. They gave Britain a lot of money and supplies through the lend lease program and the cash and carry program. The reason that the US didn't get involved so much was that the US still was smarting over WWI and had to deal with the Great Depression.

You have just been reported. You may have your own opinion about Americans, and you have a right to it. But what you don't have a right to do is so gratuitously use personal attacks and namecalling.
Read the terms of service before you post another question, and when you do, at least then you can use a more civil tone.

And the Japanese were being pushed back by the advance of Russian troops into Manchuria in the last half of the war so it seems like America's claim to "fixing" Europe's problems and "curing" the world of war is a little overblown.

We were content to let you guys in Europe do the job, but Japan had to go and bring us into it all. What is your point in all this, by the way? Probably just trying to get a heated debate going. I refuse. Have a beautifully British day!

The Brits did good by staring down Hilter. However, you sound like you still think America is an English colony.
