I have been with my girlfriend for 4 years. We have a house and a car together. Both our names are on it.
I know in my heart that there is no one else I want to be with. I love her with all my heart. I feel like she feels the same way too.
My question is , how should I go about making it official.
I haven't really asked her but we present ourselves as such.

Man, just get the ring, take her to dinner and ask her will she marry you. It doesn't have to be anything elaborate, the ring should be nice to show how much you really appreciate her, if you can afford it.

Have a romantic evening at home. Have a special dinner and a nice evening. when you're all relaxed and close. Then would be a nice time to ask. There are many ways to do it. Just follow your heart and that should lead you.
My husband wasn't romantic. He trapped animals and rodents. and on the way to catch a skunk was when he proposed. We will be married 9 yrs. in Sept.

ask her through the back door, eg. as a girl, did she ever dream of a white wedding or rather a Harley in Vegas. Or if she wanted to go on a honeymoon, what would be her dream vacation...
She'll either react really happy, because she's waiting for you to pop the question or she'll treat it as rhetorical question, meaning that she's not ready yet.
If she wants it, do something really cheesy and public: it's a big moment that both of you will remember for the rest of your lives.

I am in the same situation u r in. Before we got engaged we went to a marriage counselor to see if we were actually ready for the big step. it would be a shame to plan and spend all that money before you guys went to a marriage counselor.
