I built a new house on an existing basement and now I want to finish the basement. Where is a good place to look for building codes?

I am not aware of any internet site that posts the International Code Council's building code. Pennsylvania uses the ICC's code as its model. I am in New York which also uses it and had to buy the book. I think it was about $55. The web address is www.iccsafe.org

Make sure you get the International Residential Code, as the International Building Code also includes commercial building codes which you probably don't need.

Main thing is that you will need an egress from the basement when finished. If it is walk-out basement no issues. Otherwise you'll need a Bilco or areaway.

Ask your county for county specifics when submitting the plan.

your area should have a code inforcement officer just go to his office and ask him, or the town hall or county courthouse.
