You need to increase the page file size. In XP, do this by right clicking on My Computer, then click on Properties. Click the Advanced tab, then click the Settings button under Performance. Click the Advanced tab, then click the Change button under Virtual Memory. Click the System Managed Size radio button, then click Set, and finally click OK. You will need to restart your computer for the changes to take effect.

increase the size of your page file aka virtual memory. For windows xp, you can do this by right-clicking on My Computer and then going to properties. On the advanced tab there is a button you can click on to modify the virtual memory settings.

Sounds like you have a bunch of spyware or a virus. Increasing virtual memory does not sound like a solution unless you're running just A TON of programs all at the same time. Run taskmanager and see what is eating up all your regualr memory and get rid of those items.

click the advanced tab
click change in Virtual memory
select System Managed size, reboot if called for.

kill as many applications you have running that can. Use only as many simultaneous programs as physical memory will allow (use task manager) because once your virtual memory extends beyond physical, your system crawls.

You can also increase your virtual memory using the SYSTEM icon in the control panel, but that won't make it run faster.

Adding more physical memory will increase things, too.

You can increase the amount of RAM or shut down services that are not needed or increase Virtual Memory (paging file size).

stop running so many programs simultaneously, get a bigger hard disk or more RAM, or allocate yourself more Virtual memory space (probably not the better option)
