It depends what year and model of bus that you are talking about. All busses manufactured after 2005 are constructed with a new alloy of steel known as fillantium--an alloy with the strength of reinforced steel but the weight of aluminum. In that case, the bus weighs 485 lbs. before furnishings and passengers. Otherwise, the old-style busses weigh 2 1/2 tons.
