When I ask my kids to look me straight in the eyes. I usually want them to pay attention to me when I'm talking to them.
It could also be used to tell some one you want them to be honest with you.
Someone lying to you will usually look away.
"So look me in the eye, so I know your telling me the truth."
However, people who are really good at lying can look you in the eye and still lie.

FOR MYSELF,WHEN I SPEAK TO SOMEONE, I LOOK THEM DEAD IN THERE EYES AND I EXSPECT THE SAME IN RETURN.WHY, BECAUSE THAT IS A SURE WAY, THAT YOU KNOW THEY ARE LISTENING TO YOU AND VISA -VERSA. THE OTHER ,IS SO I CAN TELL IF A PERSON IS LYING TO ME OR BEING TRUTHFUL. IT SAYS ALOT ABOUT WHO YOU ARE.JUST BY TRUELY BEING LOOKED AT AND BEING ABLE TO TRUELY LOOK BACK.
