So all of a sudden.. If you study when you need to, do your homework, pay attention in class, have common sense (if which you ask me is pretty not so common nowadays), and you have some knowledge about other things in a subject.... you're considered a nerd? Dude, wtf. Just because you are a bright person doesn't mean people have to automatically call you a nerd! And let me break it to you. I don't have braces. I don't wear glasses. I don't wear nerdy apparel. I wear regular teenage clothes and shop at my kind of stores etc. I have friends and I have closest friends I go through drama too most of which people say is based on jealousy and some of my "friends" USE me for homework/answers. I just don't get it. You're smart. You have friends. You are yourself.. but what the hell... you are considered a NERD? I'm not an outcast. I'm pretty popular if you ask me. So why am I being called a nerd? Some view it as a compliment but mostly.. it is viewed as a derrogatory comment!

Sugar, you are just worrying WAY too much about what some other kids think. Opinions are worth nothing, because everybody already has one. Just do the best you can, and enjoy the company of people who like you, and don't worry about the ones who don't. Doing your homework will result in getting decent grades.... which will allow you to choose what ever path you want in life, including college.... which will mean that you will SOON (you'd be surprised how soon) grow up to be a successful person who has a nice car and home, etc....

And where will those dumb kids be? The kids who stand around calling somebody names because they do their homework? My dear, they will be still living with their parents, driving a car that their Mom got sick of driving, wondering when their lives are going to start... because they won't be able to get a decent job because they couldn't get into college.

Just don't worry about their opinions.

As a fellow nerd i say embrace your nerdom. Seriously I've always been called things like that. I was in the gifted classes, always blew the curve on tests, etc, etc, etc. If people want to call you a nerd who cares? You sound pretty confident in yourself. Don't let the small minds of others hinder you.

I think they call you that because they envy you. Take it as a compliment. And be proud of yourself for taking your education seriously.

If it really bothers you, anytime someone calls you a nerd, just say, "Thanks, I work hard at it". If they were trying to annoy you in the first place, they'll stop.

Finally, always be yourself and don't let others use you or tell you how you should be ... you're just you.

I get the same thing... just because I care about my education and care about my grades I'm also called a "nerd." My friends who want to cheat on my homework, I simply say no and for them to do it themself. Who cares what they think... it's their problem. Just tell them no next time. I also hate it but screw society... us so-called "nerds" will be the laughing at them when they are living in a box while we're living in a mansion.

Ok, you kinda answered it yourself....jealousy. People are jealous b/c you are not nerdy looking and you are smart. Get use to jealousy. But remember to always be yourself, no matter what people say. Out here in the real world, beyond high school I am willing to bet you will be a triple threat! Don't let it bother you what people in high school say!

Society is stupid right now... there is a henious 80's revival where people actually CARE what other people think about them and "style" and popularity are, for some stupid reason, important. Who cares?

Be a nerd. Embrace nerdness. Make fun of people who want to be cool.

I hate this society.

Don't worry about it, people who call you a nerd will end up going nowhere. And in my area at least, most of that stopped in highschool.

umm?

what grade are you in? if you are in middle school then ignore it...it's a middle schooler thing

if you ar ein highschool you and your "friends" have some serious growing up to do. don't let people anger you. they dont know you so they can go to hell. don't let their comments define who you are!

and there are many more issues with society that are of much more importantce than the typical teen drama of today's world.

here's the deal...let it go...I'm now beyond my high school days and can offer you a peek into the future...when you are all in your thirties +, all you nerds look pretty decent to all the popular girls...life goes on and we all blend quite well together...don't worry about it, keep you smarts about you...it really is what counts.
