A foul odor usually indicates some type of infection going on, so it would be best to see your doctor for an exam and testing, to determine exactly what type of infection is going on.

"Some vaginal odor can be normal. It's important to know what's normal for your body. If you find the odor unpleasant or if it bothers you, be sure to tell your healthcare provider. It can sometimes be uncomfortable to discuss vaginal symptoms with your healthcare provider, but remember that they are used to these kinds of discussions.
If a "fishy" odor or unpleasant vaginal odor is present, it can be a sign of a bacterial vaginal infection. A bacterial vaginal infection requires a medication with antibiotics to treat the infection, and must be prescribed by your healthcare provider.
There are products you can buy at the pharmacy that may help get rid of vaginal odor; however, if you have a bacterial infection, these products will only "mask" the odor, not treat the infection. The vaginal odor will most likely return after a period of time.
Some products you buy at the pharmacy, such as douches or other feminine hygiene products that are applied to or inserted into the vagina, can actually be more irritating to the vaginal area, and can cause more discomfort."
Try a feminine deoderant like Summer's Eve to help you feel more confident.

Hello,
Well, listen to the "Nurse" and get a Pap Smear to make sure you dont have a bad infection like trichominosis or gonoreah--they can cause really bad odor. GO TO THE DOCTOR AND GET A PAP SMEAR.
If the Doctors tell you that you dont have any infection--then I'll tell you this: sometimes women do not "wash themselves" properly. As a woman, its almost like you have to be a devoted soldier when it comes to bodily hygeine. A Woman MUST TAKE BATHS. Only by soaking our skin in water for a period of time, will the dirt loosen up. Some people have this idea that baths "make you dirtier". That is insane. After a person takes bath, there is normally a dark "ring around the tub". That "ring" is all the dirt that has come off the body...Plus, a woman's private parts must be soaked. As my grandma says "Water has got to get up in them crevaces". Thats true.
Plus, after you wash your whole body 3 times--- drain the water out the tub and do this: Turn the water back on and sit in the "squatting position" with legs as open as possible, near the faucet. Then, wash the front, then back of your private area. By squatting, it makes sure that your whole area is being cleaned out--not just some parts...Rinse by splashing water onto your washcloth to your body...then clean agian, rinse and clean agian..... Also, this is an old woman's secret--as you wash your area--"smell" the washcloth before you rinse it. Keep washing down there until all the smell is gone--front and back..(wash the front first--because you can not let poop get into the front or you'll get an infection).
IF After that--you still smell, then its time to use some herbal remedy. Meaning, if the doctor tells you that you Dont have an infection, and if you wash properly you still smell---Then there's an herb called "GoldenSeal" that is a Life Saver. Goldenseal is a plant, and its a powerful natural herb that kills bacteria, virus, and rids the body of pus and is used to fight cancer, syphils, the flu, and so many other things. It is non-poisonous. You can douche with GoldenSeal Tea. It comes in a powder form: you simply put a teaspoon of the powder into a glass, then fill the glass with boiling water--let that sit for a few hours. Buy one of those Summer's Eves douches--then screw the top off it and drain the water out. Then fill the bottle up with the goldenseal tea, then douche in a empty bathtub. But be careful, goldenseal will stain your clothes or your carpet. (Doctors will tell you Not to douche, but they mean not to douche with vinegar and soap that comes in the Summer Eves bottles--those will make you worse. But GoldenSeal is something that you can drink or douche with to heal yourself.) After that, you'll notice a HUGE CHANGE AND FEEL AND SMELL SO CLEAN.

It would be a good idea to make an appt. to see your gynecologist.
Bacterial vaginosis and yeast infections usually are the culprits.
Your gynecologist can take a culture and do a test there that will let you know if it is a yeast infection or bacterial vaginosis. They usually test for STDs also if you are sexually active.
Usually Flagyl is prescribed for BV. 7 days and it clears things up.

With anti-biotics. See a doctor, you have an infection and from the smell of it, it is a STD.
