The two main things I want to say are as follows.
Firstly, I would say that you have to be careful not to assume that the Television media is presenting, so called facts, in a fair and balanced way. They have their own agenda, which I think, you have echoed, in the way that you have only pointed out what the Israelies have allegedly done.
Secondly, how do you fight a guerrilla army that looks like, and operates from amongst, its own people. You hardly ever see that discussed on the TV and it certainly has not been referred to by you. It is surely, "Hezbollah", that is endangering the Lebanese people by the way in which they have chosen to operate. I do not believe that the Israelies are deliberately targetting civilians, why do you think that they are? You also don't mention the many terrorist attacks on the Israelies. It is easy to condemn, but what are Israelies supposed to do, and how long have they got to put up with it?
This might seem harsh, but the population of a country have to take resposibility for the type of government that they have allowed to develop. Otherwise lessons aren't learned and things never change.

In case you have not noticed, America is hell bent on it's own killing spree. Notice that Bush is stalling sending Ms Rice over there so Israel can keep bombing away without the US having to make any statements either against or for the carnage. So, it is wrong for us to be in Iraq irght? we are punishing a whole country for the actions of a few.. actually I happen to agree, we should not be there.. and talk about the intellegence there.. In case you missed it.. THERE WERE NO WEAPONS OF MASS DESTRUCTION.. the French knew that.. told us so.. I do not judge Israel for doing what they said they would do if their enemies kept pushing them. I am more prone to judging our own terrorist acts carried out by the Bush administration. It is easy to create a terrorist, it is almost impossible to unmake one. Bush has been creating terrorists his entire administration.. judge him and the actions of the US before you go off judging Israel who has shown much restraint for many years.

Blatantly targeting civilians? Huh. They drop leaflets telling civilians to get out beforehad from reports. They target Hezbollah ( or are they the civilians you mean) Hezbollah on the other hand just lobs rockets wherever they can and intentionally taget civilians. Should Americans be behind Hezbollah instread? And where are you getting your casualty figures.

In failing to address the threat Hezbollah posed to Israel (per the agreement which led to Israel's exit from Lebanon), Lebanon left itself open to being attacked due to housing terrorists. You seem to neglect the fact that Hezbollah continues to fire missles at will from Lebanon. While it is true that civillians are the true losers here, it is their own government which let them down. Hezbollah should have been addressed if not by Lebanon itself, then the UN. Israel has a right to defend itself.

I don't know how many Americans are behind the "over the top" nature of Israel's response to Hezbollah. The overwhelming military response inflicting huge civillian casualties seems rather apalling to me, but what I'd like to hear is more people presenting solutions rather than trying to decide whose actions are worse: Israel or those trying to wipe her off the map.

Israel does everything reasonable to minimize civilian casualties, including dropping leaflets warning residents to get out of areas about to be bombed.
Hezbollah and Hamas want to maximize civilian casualties on both sides. (Hey, how come noone in Israel ever received a warning leaflet from the Hezbollah?)
And once you decide to hide missiles in your house for one of these Jihad cults, you give up your status as a "civilian".

there is a strong Jewish lobby in the states as large numbers of them fled there before ww2. the USA has, (i think) the largest population of Jews outside of Israel. i agree completely with your sentiment but us Brits have done far worse in the past. however, you would think that a people who experienced a ghetto only 65 years ago would be more helpful to a people in ghetto for over 40 years. even if they put them there. military history is filled with quirks like that. our own condemnation of Israel is nuts, because we were the first to use the word Holocaust, to describe the burning of the Jews in york castle.

They are defending themselves. Lebanon cannot disperse hezbollah so israel is going to do it for them. I'm certainly behind israel. I will not support a terrorist group that has one mission....to kill all jews. For that matter anyone who opposes their beliefs. Being christian i am on the jews side.(we work for the same boss!)

How many billions of dollars to the US gov/people give Israel in terms of weapons per annum ?, (so apart from all the propaganda they bombard their own populous with) if they were critical of the slaughter the gov. and it's entire policy toward the middle east would have to be re-drawn.
