Wait uttil the cool of the evening. Most of the hrnets will have returned to the nest for the night. Then use a can of wasp,bee, honet killer that shoots a stream of insecticied from 20 to 25 ft.
Sray the nest until it is saturated. If there are still some hornets in the morning and you see them returning to the same nest, repeat again. Hornets that didn't die will usually abandon the damaged nest. Do not use anything flamable as you may cause a fire.

You should seriously call an exterminator! Hornets get really pissed and are dangerous. It shouldn't cost that much just to have the nest destroyed. Good luck and if you decide to do it be careful.

if the nest is in a tree and round grey ball wait untill dark and put into large black plastic bag and tie up cut from branch the next day put in direct sun they will die because of getting so hot if they are ground hornets put bleach or gasoline down hole and cover with dirt real fast. i have done both and they will work good luck be careful
