He is moving to a new town and new school. I don't know if I will ever see him again.

I've known my best friend since we were in the 8th grade (school year 1987-1988, met in 87). Her husband is in the military so they move around. She's lived in Japan, Washington State, Louisiana, and she is now in Kansas. Keeping in touch is all that needs to be done. Call, write, e-mail and if he's not to far away, make arragements to see each other. Everything will be ok.

This just happened to me about 5 months ago, and I'm still dealing with it. Don't be afraid to grieve; the pain of a good friend moving away is comparable to that of a death. Trust me, I literally cried for a week. But also keep in mind that you will keep in touch with this person, whether it be e-mail or Messenger or whatever, and someday, if the friendship is strong enough to handle the distance, maybe you'll even be able to see each other again. Just keep your head up; it's hard, but in the end you will get through it.

The best thing you guys can do is to try and keep in touch. Either by e-mail or phone. Maybe you can go over to his new house if it isn't too far away, or over the summer make a plan to see each other.

Life goes on. Maybe he will be gone out of town and all. But why not use it as an excuse to keep in touch with him. Email, phone, email, you name it. Then once in a while visit him and hang out with him for a while. Just cause he's gone doesn't mean your friendship stops.

I can relate to that. I moved out of state, 1,000 miles away... and left my best friend and all friends behind. Sure do miss them.

Keep in contact by phone and email till you can visit each other.

he is not moving out of your life, but he is expanding your world for you
persuade your parents to get unlimited long distance phone and stay in contact
that way you're learning a lot about the place where he is and can choose to maybe go to college there (if it's nice)

Write and talk on the phone is other options. Keep him and your heart and think of all the good memories that you guys had together. Don't stress know that everything happens for a reason.
