I think it would be interesting to see what people think and if they can really remember that age..

Iasked a question similar to this a few weeks ago and I was surprised to find out that it seems many people can remember things as far back as two years old, as well as I can also two is the earliest I can recall memories. Though I wondered on some if they just remember a family member telling them about it, rather than them remembering it.

It is a proven fact that a person can only remember things only if they had language. A 1 year old that has some ability to communicate and make sense out of their surroundings is capable of retaining a memory.

There was a case somewhere where a neglected child who was blind and deaf was never taught any language until the age of 12. That child's first memory didn't occur until such time. Wish I could qoute the source, just don't remember.

Of course, I still remember my first day of Kindergarden, I was four and a half. I was really shy and timmid, nobody believes me when I say that now!!! LOL
I even remember a strange event that occured when I was just two and a half. I remember wanting to go swimming at my apartment complex swimming pool early one Saturday morning and telling my older ( and should have been wiser ) brother how to get out of the house without making the door creek so Mom and Dad wouldn't know.
We got caught anyway...but it sure was funny!

I remember being dragged by my ear by Randy Jackson (yes the same one from American Idol...true story) when I was only five, because his little sister and I got in trouble for Elevator racing at my Dad's work.
My Dad was the original director for Soul Train when it was still just a local dance show in Chicago.

I'm fourty now.

i remember my earliest memory at 4, i woke up on a couch and spent days playing with those huge legos. I know people who remember things from about 2 or 3 years old. I'm 16 by the way. It's just what you remember, hell I even have a memory from before i was born ^.^ but i guess past lives don't count?

I can remember 4 & 5 pretty well and possibly an event or 2 from about age 2. Although that may just be an invented memory from family members telling me about it all these years.
The annoying bit is that I can't freaking remember where my girlfriend and I ate dinner last weekend!
Don't get old.

Yes I have many memories as far back as when I was 4. I am 27 now. I remember my crib, breaking out of it some nights and crawling around the house, being careful not to wake my parents. I remember old movies and tv shows I saw. I rememer places I was at, like the Concord hotel resort, and Venice, Italy, where my parents took me when I was that age.

I can remember things in my life from when I was that age. I remember sitting at the window waiting for my sister to come home from school (I was too young to attend), I remember running around the house having a pup chase me, I remember wearing a green vest on my first day of school, I remember my sister and I getting into a fight and promising never to fight again (yeah right). Ooh yeah...I can go way back.

I can remember back to about 4 years of age

but I learned in Psych that memory is connected to language and that the reason you dont remember things from infancy is b/c you didnt have any language skills

I can remember back to when I was three and a half. It was my first time on a horse and i was very scared and not happy at all and I remember most that my older brother (he would have been about 5 or 6) wasn't holding on to me very tight and i ended up falling off somehow.

I remember My 3rd birthday party. We were living in the apartment in oxhaven. It was a one bedroom apartment, my parents in a master bedroom, the bed was covered in a blanket of crushed red velvet, and my bedroom was in the closet, which I shared with my dresser. (no joke! it was a huge walk in closet though, almost a room to istelf.) We had a round dark stained wooden table, and we had my favorite at the time for dinner, spaghetti and meatballs. After dinner, we had my cake, which was a round shaped layer cake. It had three layers, each getting smaller (ie wedding cake without the pillers or anything) around the edge of each cake there was a small plastic toy train for decoration. It had white icing, and I remember on one of the trains, the locomotive was pink, with a blue roof, and yellow pins thru the wheels. I also remember waking up one night at the age of three and vomiting in my bed, i then went to sleep in a refrigerator box that was on it's side and filled with stuffed animals and had windows cut out of it. I vomited in there also. After that I vomited in my parents bed. Finally we all ended up on the floor and I almost vomited there, but mom rushed me to the bathroom in the nick of time. I can also remember my pounding board, one of my favorite toys was a 2 x 4 that I used to hammer nails into for fun.

I am now 24.

Also I once met a guy who claimed he could remember being born, and being in utero, although theres no real way to verify it, i have heard of that before on occasion.
