How can I talk about myself without making her jealous? I sort of want to make her jealous because she sometimes put me thru hell.

She is the old-school type of grandmother-she goes to church, she never had a job-so to speak, she was a housewife and So to be polite, she asks me 'How are things going?' and naturally i will talk about myself, and she starts to make this face like she is incredibly jealous. I don't really know why she asks if she knows it will get her jealous? But she is all about manners and etiquette so she feels like she has to ask me. (?)

Since she is kinda old-school, I think she may have a problem realizing that she did nothing with her life. Since she kinda cares about yours, (being that you are a granddaughter and all), she might ask anyways just to see how you are doing-even though it is driving her nuts inside that she can't help but be jealous.

Next time if she seems to get jealous, just answer her briefly and ask her about her day. Jealousy can happen even when you don't want it to happen, I think she is jealous of your accomplishments (do you have any?) but tries to hide it to obtain her ego or self-worth.

Most importantly, don't TRY to make her jealous, even though she put you thru hell, She is enough jealous already, so more 'fuel to the fire' isn't worth it.

why would she be jealous of you? Sounds like it is you who is winding her up. Why would you want to talk about yourself and you even admit you are trying to make her jealous. Grow up

There is NOTHING you can do about it. My grandmother from my mom's side of the family was constantly nagging at me. I don't think that she ever loved me. She putted me through hell too. So, you have to deal with it.

You'd be lowering yourself to her level if you try to make her jealous. Don't do it.
